Regional Staff Accountant

The Time Warner Cable Texas Regional office currently seeks a Staff Accountant to join their expanding accounting group. This is a newly created position that will offer the opportunity to have a hand in designing and streamlining processes/procedures in an effort to regionalize accounting functions for Texas operations. This position will be located in our Regional office in Flower Mound, near the Lewisville/Grapevine area.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The primary purpose of this position is to perform the monthly accounting functions, prepare account reconciliations and financial analysis for the Texas Region, with revenue in excess of $2 billion. This position also assists in the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, reports financial and statistical information to senior management, and supports divisions and regional management in the use of company systems, policies and procedures. This position will handle a large volume of data with a high degree of accuracy.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for monthly closing journal entries and related supporting documentation and other month-end responsibilities.

2. Responsible for creating, maintaining and reviewing general ledger account reconciliations.

3. Prepare analysis for financial and statistical variances between actual, prior month, budget and outlook.

4. Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial schedules and analysis required by corporate accounting.

5. Assists divisions with the application of company accounting policies and procedures

6. Provide accounting support to the divisions and regional management as needed.

7. Prepares financial and statistical reports for management on a regular and ad hoc basis.

8. Assists with fixed asset accounting and capital reporting as needed.

9. Utilize PeopleSoft accounting systems, database reporting tools, and Excel.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Advanced PC skills using Spreadsheet (Excel), database (Access) and data extraction (query) software.
_ Knowledge of PeopleSoft financial systems a plus.
- Strong communication, organizational and analytical skills.
- Positive attitude dedicated towards achieving results for the “team,� as well as providing quality service and accuracy.

SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
1. Thorough knowledge of basic mathematics.
2. Knowledge of computers and software, Excel and Microsoft Word. Knowledge of PeopleSoft a plus.
3. Excellent organizational and filing skills is essential.
4. The position requires a responsible individual with the ability to work under pressure, exercise good judgment, and handle assignments independently.
5. Ability to work quickly and efficiently, handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines is essential.
6. Must have good communications skills with all internal and external contacts. Must be able to interact well with employees of all levels within the Company.
7. Various office computer supplies: disks, computers, papers, ribbon, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB:

1. Ability to sit at a desk for an extended period of time.
2. Ability to look at and work on computer for an extended period of time.
3. Ability to effectively use telephone for communication.
