Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical R&D Manager II - 26517 Job Description:Manager for multiple product lines, technologies or specialized functions. Devotes a significant portion of their time to managerial, leadership and staff development responsibilities.Key Responsibilities: Drives functional excellence initiatives, delivers high quality functional deliverables, and ensures technical excellence for product or technical development. Drives technical projects of major magnitude and scope. Provides significant guidance and approval regarding technical strategies and approaches. Ensures continued intellectual property development self and staff. Owns intellectual property development for the multiple product lines, technologies or specialized functions. Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high quality staff. Develops and monitors department budgets. Determines appropriate staff levels, schedules and resources. Coordinates sessions with the project managers/core team leaders to look for opportunities for staff to learn about new initiatives or volunteer on new projects. Drives the development of department tools and methodologies. Determines project staff assignments and schedules work to meet completion dates and R&D deliverables. Establishes cross-functional team relationships. Provides an overview of the function and role of his/her group, technical skill sets, to other groups and/or divisions. Works cross-functionally in identifying and resolving technical issues. Drives and evaluates project and department progress, technical development plans, and results.Quality Systems Duties and Responsibilities: Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports BSC’s Quality Policy, Quality System and the appropriate regulations for the area they support.
