Position:   Quality Engineer – Customer Applications

Thomson, the world leading provider of solutions for the creation, management, delivery and access of video, for the Communication, Media and Entertainment industries has an opportunity in its Quality department.  This position will ensure the Quality of CNS products, improve and implement new features, integrate new technology along with continuing scope of the CAE workload including customer return analysis, Customer Use Simulation Guideline generation, Specification generation, new segment product development, and new customer feedback methods. 

 

 

EDUCATION: 

 

BSEE, BSEET, or BSIE required.

Experience of root cause analysis, test systems development essential.

 

 EXPERIENCE: 

 

Minimum of 2 years of direct quality or manufacturing engineering experience. One year minimum working with manufacturing processes and new product development/introduction.  Broad-based experience with both mechanical and electronics product manufacturing and assembly techniques desired.  Direct experience in Telephony Networks, RF products, Hardware, Software product development and Man Machine interface evaluation a plus.  Must have PC and computer networking experience along with a strong understanding of internet operation and basic programming skills.  Must possess strong problem solving skills and the ability to work in a team environment.  Requires excellent interpersonal skills, high level of self-motivation and a willingness to travel internationally and strong decision making skills to lead the effort of defining customer expectations for new products with limited customer feedback.

 

 RESPONSIBILITIES:   

Responsible for the constant improvement of the quality of retail consumer electronic communications products. Duties include but are not limited to:  Facilitates design improvements through active core team participation, improvement project coordination, and driving the "Customer Voice" into the design process and new feature and technology specification creation.  A major portion of work effort includes quality planning, goal setting, and review/analysis of customer feedback to drive quality improvement and corrective actions.  Key focus areas include (but not limited to) the facilitation, tracking and closure of: (1) Quality improvement planning, (2) Product Qualification Planning, (3) Competitive Benchmarking, (4) Customer Use Simulation methods, (5) Customer Feedback analysis and (6) Specification generation.
