Product Design Engineer

Position Overview – Design and develop electro-mechanical solenoid valves for customer applications. Review and improve existing designs to facilitate Lean Manufacturing.

Essential Job Functions

·         The ability to interface with customers and suppliers to develop products to meet diverse needs.

·         Responsible for the design, development and testing of new products

·         The ability to design for existing company manufacturing equipment.

·         Participate in design reviews for parts and assemblies with manufacturing and quality teams

·         Support company QMS and ISO-9000 requirements

·         Develop DFMEA’s

·         Prepares test plans, design test setups and conducts testing

·         Overall project management, responsible for all phases from initial design, scale-up to manufacturing and product launch

Non-essential Job Functions

·         Participate in company problem resolution teams.

·         Participate in company Kaizen events.

Requirements

·         BSEE / BSME or equivalent

·         3-5 years related job experience in design and development of new products

·         Strong design skills a must. Experience with CAD and design experience in high volume manufacturing environments working with components.

·         Must be proficient with MS Office (Including, WORD, Excel and Access)

·         Project Management skills

·         Should be able to use standard mechanical and electronic gages and test equipment as well as recommend gaging for new designs.

·         Must be able to read and understand Electrical and Pneumatic/Hydraulic Schematics and Mechanical Blueprints.

·         Ability to work with others and must demonstrate effective verbal and written communications skills

·         Other job related duties as required by direct supervision

Other Skills/Abilities

·         Functional SolidWorks proficiency

·         Lean Manufacturing experience a major plus

·         Knowledge of 6-Sigma tools
