We are currently recruiting for a Portfolio Analyst for our IT division… Job Summary This position reports to the Director of Portfolio Management and focuses on administration duties surrounding managing the IT project, application and resource portfolios. A primary focus is working cross-organizationally to gather the necessary portfolio data, assessing the portfolio data to make recommendations and preparing the portfolio review materials. This position will also participate in defining the practices of portfolio management including process definition and tool selection. Essential Functions Responsible for developing and maintaining a formally identified set of projects, resources & applications which form the overall IT portfolio. Prepares materials for the IT governance board portfolio review. Distributes this information as appropriate to IT management and other key personnel. Applies the defined criteria against which all projects are evaluated, to link their value to the corporate business strategy. Ensures project benefits are quantified in a way that will enable objective evaluation of projects against company objectives and thereby aid project approval decision-making. Ensures all required data for making portfolio decisions is complete and available for decision-making, working with functional managers and project managers to do so. Analyzes project ideas against defined criteria to assist in balancing the overall portfolio. Monitors projects in the portfolio—milestone schedule commitments, resource commitments—and collects project information to update the portfolio. Monitors resource constraints affecting the completion of projects in the portfolio. Analyzes the impact to the existing portfolio when new projects surface, and works with functional and project managers to identify alternative strategies (resources, project sequencing, etc.) for accomplishing desired projects. Works with business, functional, and project managers to identify project interrelationships that will affect portfolio priority and resource allocation decisions. Works with project managers to translate portfolio decisions to appropriate plans for and execution of the projects. Works with IT line management to gather information surrounding the resource portfolio. Work with Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure & Development organizations to gather application portfolio information. Participates in growing portfolio management maturity in the organization through process definition and tool selection / implementation. Job Requirements: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Bachelors degree required. 3-5 years of Project Management or Business Analysis experience (desired). Familiarity with Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools such as CA Clarity, or Microsoft Project Server, or Microsoft PPM, or Primevera is a plus. Strong organization, communication, and facilitation skills. Able to interact cross organizationally to support portfolio administration duties. Ability to create and deliver executive-level summary reports and presentations. Strong analytical capabilities. Able to analyze & assess large amounts of data to inform recommendations. Cost accounting knowledge & familiarity with IT related metrics is helpful. Strong business acumen. Process oriented; able to document and maintain office practices.
