Operator of U.S. flag ocean going tank and dry cargo vessels seeking ex-USCG Marine Safety Officer to perform duties as a Port Captain/Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist, as well as to conduct internal quality, safety and environmental audits of the Company's shore facility and vessels. In addition, this person will, under the direction of Vice President, Operations, act as an implementer of the Company's Quality, Safety and Environmental Management System (ISM/ISO 9000/14000), work with shore side and vessel staff to implement safe working practices and to further the Company's safety culture onboard the vessels. This individual will also act as the Alternate Company Security Officer in the management of the MTSA/ISPS security regulations and as the Alternate Designated Person Ashore in the management of the ISM Safety Management System. Port Captain duties involve coordinating vessel movements with customers, generating operational reports, ship position updates and appointing shipping agencies as necessary as well as providing operational guidance to both ship and shore staff. The Port Captain duties also include attending vessels for OCIMF SIRE as well as regulatory inspections. Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist duties involve promoting the corporate safety culture, implementing our environmental management plan and working with regulatory (USCG/ABS) agencies. Service as a USCG Marine Safety Officer / Marine Inspector, or equivalent, is required with at least 5 years service. Required training such as internal auditor, Company Safety Officer, Incident Investigations, etc., will be provided. Qualified candidates should be self-starting and capable of performing the job with little supervision. This position requires travel both foreign and domestic. Expect about 40% travel time for this position. Candidates are subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Candidate will also need to be familiar with Microsoft Office programs. Candidate must be eligible to receive a U.S. “Secret” security clearance. Relocation assistance is negotiable.
