Job Description:PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Pension Analyst is primarily responsible for the ongoing maintenance of current client Defined Benefit Plan Administration configuration attributes in the Benefits Workstation Application (SBC’s Defined Benefit Administration Application). The Pension Analyst gathers client business requirements by analyzing the client’s current environment, develops specifications, and completes all plan configuration changes in the system; consequently ensuring that all plan rules and attributes are accurately automated. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES * Primarily supports current defined benefit plan clients in the SBC Benefits Workstation Application by gathering and analyzing current defined benefit plan client business requirements to determine if system rules, data values, participant forms, data file interfaces and/or other system attributes need to be modified. Uses oral and written communications skills to translate business requirements into functional specifications to facilitate understanding by business users and clients. Understands the defined benefit plan attributes and related processes well enough to assess changes and impacts of the options. Assists on documenting requirements for new business conversion as necessary. * Creates and/or modifies screens, forms and interfaces based on client requirements and/or plan attribute changes for primarily existing clients, while assisting on the conversion of new client business. Documents data-mapping for conversion of legacy data into Benefits Workstation. * Performs functional testing of the solution/application to ensure user requirements captured during the analysis are met. Validates that all pension calculations are correct and accurate. Coordinates and/or assists client in completing user acceptance testing. * Provides defined benefit plan support to the defined benefit administrative team by primarily serving as a Subject Matter Expert on DB plan attributes, provisions, and requirements. * Provide support to New Business Group during new plan implementations by serving as subject resource for client conversion and automation process inquiries. QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor’s Degree and two years of defined benefit plan administration experience preferred * Business Systems Analysis skills, specifically experience working with the System Lifecycle Development Methodology preferred. * Comprehensive knowledge of defined benefit plans preferred. * Knowledge of traditional vs. cash balance plan processing preferred. * Prior experience with plan configuration in SBC Benefits Workstation preferred. * Defined benefit administration skills. * Strong oral and written communication skills * High level analytical and problem solving skills * Knowledge of testing concepts and skilled in formulating test strategies, managing and executing testing * Familiarity of the business processes * Interpersonal skills * Negotiation skills * Effective follow-up skills and ability to meet deadlines * PC Skills – Strong Word and Excel, Quattro/Lotus and general PC knowledge * College degree and one year related work experience, or a minimum of five years related work experience required.
