PRINCIPAL SW DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
Job Description:Wonderware has several open positions in Lake Forest, California, for Principal Software Engineers with keen troubleshooting skills in the SCADA and real-time historian domain. This opportunity on our maintenance team offers a fast-pace and ever changing environment that requires cross-departmental savvy and a strong desire to find solutions. The primary purpose of this team is to partner with our International Customer Support organization as the Level 3 tier. Level 3 engineers augment Technical Support engineers by providing broad domain experience and coding skills. As a Level 3 engineer, you will assist in reproducing field issues, troubleshooting complex topologies, and producing quick software fixes for issues associated with application engineering projects and on-line production systems. In addition to Customer Support responsibilities, Level 3 engineers participate in producing software releases and provide assistance to our off-shore locations. Job candidates should possess a team mentality and be energized by new situations and tough problems.The person must be able to do “Triage” on software field issues with the following skills in their toolbox:Ø Good judgment/instinctsØ Solid written communication skills, verbal communication skills, research skillsØ Not interrupt averse, parallel taskingØ Assertive yet patientØ Strong problem solving skills focused on gathering and organizing dataØ Knowledge of a variety of WW products and the ability to add to that toolsetAs a Level 3 developer, the person should partner with Tech Support Engineers to solve the field problems which requires the following:Soft Skills:· Good judgment/instincts· Solid written communication skills, verbal communication skills, research skills· Not interrupt averse, parallel tasking· Assertive yet patient· Good time-management skills· Strong problem solving skills augmented through brainstorming and networking· Solution driven even if exposure to product or existing source code is limitedTechnical Skills:· Knowledge of a variety of WW products and the ability to add to that toolset· Experience with various versions of Microsoft Visual Studio· C, C++, and C# .NET – all are preferred· Dump file analysis skills· memory validation tools, performance tools, network analysis tools· SQL savvy, XML savvy· Familiar with differences among the Windows operating systems· Familiar with basic Windows configuration toolsCAREER INCENTIVES: At Wonderware, we believe that diversity is key to our competitive advantage and we value the collective strengths of all our employees.
