Oracle Tech Lead/Database Analyst Perm

This is a full-time, perm position.Duties and Responsibilities. Responsible for providing direction and technical expertise and support the development team throughout the development life-cycle. . Reviews and validates the technical design for business applications . Performs project review checks to ensure deliverables meet production support requirements. Logical and physical data modeling and database design: uses a logical database model and application specifications to create an efficient physical database design. . Provides accurate information regarding the timeliness of completion of tasks demonstrating time management and self-management techniques. Database security and integrity: Designs and implements a database security strategy so that only accurate data is added to the database and only authorized users can access the database. . Database backup and recovery: implements a database backup and recovery strategy based on data volatility and application availability requirements which will protect the business from unexpected hardware and software failures.. Performance and tuning analysis: Works closely with operations staff to ensure stable performance for the DBMS environments; performs performance monitoring/analysis, identifies and resolves bottlenecks and resolves problems.. Capacity planning: Provides appropriate hardware/software resources for business applications using RDBMSs; performs capacity planning, workload modeling and prediction; provides business application with enough resources for their short-term and long-term growth.. Systems support: Ensure DBMS systems are maintained at the highest level of support; plan/set procedures and provide technical supervision; provide reliable and secure system for business applications... Operating Systems (OS) support: Provides high-level support for the operating system (i.e.; UNIX, z/OS, Windows, etc;) environments; assist in delivering a well-tuned, stable computing environment.. Problem resolution tracking: Ensure data pertaining to the status of problems and service requests is entered into problem tracking systems accurately and promptly on a daily basis; provide an up-to-date picture of service delivery status and backlog.. Software upgrades and planning: Ensure the database management system environment is updated with current stable versions of software products; maintain currency with operating system and support software; plan and implement major software upgrades; ensure change management procedures and methodologies are implemented and followed.. Create database schemas and sub-schemas.. Generate test and production databases.. Develop transaction logging and backup/recovery facilities to maximize recoverability and reduce human intervention and margin of error.. Provide leadership and recommendations of DBA tools and new DBMS technologies.. Recommend and establish technical standards and guidelines for database usage and control.. Expert in one database platform and efficient in a second database platform (Oracle, UDB/DB2-AIX, UDB/DB2-zOS, SQL-Server, IMS, Teradata and/or DB2-iSeries). Solid RDBMS-specific tool and utility knowledge and experience in such areas as monitoring, database migration, DDL management and replication . Thorough understanding of the principles of network routing, client/server programming and distributed databases.. Ability to use software tools, languages, scripts and shells required for effective support of the database enterprise.. Full knowledge of SQL including programming and ways to optimize SQL code.. Must be willing to work late or arrive early as necessary.. Provide 24x7 on-call support for database related problems. Make recommendations and plan for new releases, technologies and stay updated on DBA technical skills. Ability to solve problems quickly and thoroughly.. Ability to write proposals and technical documents.. Ability to develop presentations to diverse types of audiences (e.g. management, users, vendors, technical staff).. Proven ability to establish and maintain a high level of user trust and confidence in the IT group's knowledge of and concern for, users' business needs.
