The position will perform complex hands on database duties relative to the planning, installation and daily administration of multiple database platforms. The position is responsible for supporting databases in Unix for QA, User Acceptance and Production environments.  Additional responsibilities include:§Installing and configuring Oracle for quality assurance/testing and production environments [databases support OLTP, warehouse and billing applications];§ Administering database components (i.e., tablespaces, tables, indexes, views, etc.);§  Administering database security;§ Writing and implementing PL/SQL and shell scripts to automate various database maintenance activities;§ Performing capacity planning and determining physical storage requirements;§ Designing and implementing physical and logical database backups;§  Planning for and performing database restoration and recovery;§  Provide design of high availability database systems;§  Critical decision-making and resolution in emergent situations;§  24x7 database administration for all production Oracle databases and supporting software;§  Disk space, performance, and availability monitoring for all production databases;§Troubleshooting database problems which involve analyzing the problem, identifying alternative solutions, projecting the consequences of proposed actions and implementing a solution;§  Database/SQL Performance Tuning, define goals, monitor, identify bottlenecks and make recommendations;§  Ability to quickly learn new technology and techniques and apply them effectively where appropriate§  Preventative maintenance on all databases;§  Mentor other DBA’s. The successful candidate will have:§Strong experience as an Oracle DBA in a Unix environment supporting production, with proficiency in Oracle 10g.  Experience should include the following: performance turning, backup/recovery, import/export utilities, PL/SQL procedures, Packages, Triggers, Oracle software installation and upgrade, patching;§Strong Unix experience, proficiency in Unix shell scripting;§Ability to perform routine database management from command line without use of GUI tools if needed;§  Knowledge and experience with very large databases (10-150TB) and  high volume data loads;§  Expert knowledge of RMAN and data retention and recovery practices for Oracle databases;§  Expert knowledge and experience in primary/standby databases using Dataguard;§  Strong commitment and many years of experience as a DBA in a  24x7 production environment in an on-call rotation schedule;§  Experience in disaster recovery;§  Experience with multi-terabyte databases;§  Experience with mass storage systems;§  Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with team members, partners, and vendors;§  Knowledge of Oracle internals and expert understanding of Oracle database administration best practices;§  Understanding Data Warehouse Architecture and concepts and experience with high volume data analytics;§  Experience with database support software and procedures (i.e. Veritas Volume manager, SQL Loader, etc.);§  Advanced knowledge and skills in managing, administering and maintaining Oracle databases;§  Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities.§  Oracle Certification highly desirable. Experience: Six+ years of DBA experience.  Training:  BS degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field. Other:  Ability to pass a criminal history check.
