In this position, you will be responsible for the daily performance and availability of the organization's network, web server, desktop hardware and software needs and support.  You will also analyze our needs and make recommendations, upgrades and changes as necessary.  This is a strategic position where you will have the opportunity to assess the organization's current and future IT needs and build game plans to meet those needs.

 

The person in this position will oversee the daily operations of the network admin and support staff and record incidents and changes, so our ideal candidate will be familiar with the current statue of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. In this position, you will perform a variety of tasks, including leading and directing the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

 

In this position, you’ll interact with many different people within the company across all operational departments assessing and addresses needs and requirements.  The person in this position must feel as comfortable dealing with non-technical staff as they do dealing with technical staff.

 

In this position you will report to the Sr. Director of Technology, working along side Managers of Applications Development and Database Administration.  You will manage three direct reports – two seasoned Network Engineers and a Network Support staff member.

Responsibilities:

· Manage network engineers and help desk staff

· Manage relationships with all IT vendors- hardware, software, data and telecom.

· Communicate with Management and other departments, coming up with solutions for their needs

· Reporting to management and liaising with non-technical departments to plan and strategize based on needs assessments

· Managing staff and vendor relationships

· Be able to present and execute on strategic ideas that will allow for sustained growth of all IT infrastructure

· Responsible for uptime of critical servers and production applications, be able to handle after-hours technical issues and be able to work with developers and vendors to resolve issues

· Monitor IT spending and budgets and managing IT purchasing and licensing and be able to provide cost effective solutions and strategic planning for growth, security and productivity initiatives

 

Requirements:

· 7-10 years IT experience

· 3-5 years experience as a Manager

· Bachelor’s degree

· Very knowledgeable with Windows Server products, including but not limited to WSUS, MOM, and other network/server monitoring application(s)

· Knowledge of Networking hardware, TCP/IP topologies, firewalls

· Experience with Active Directory, Exchange 2007, Sharepoint 2007, Visio, Project, Power Point, and additional IT toolkits

· Experience purchasing IT hardware, software, managing contracts with vendors, negotiating terms

· Experience with IT data centers, Business Continuity and DR planning, data backups, restores, and network design

· Experience with network security- IPS/IDS technologies- Cisco, Tipping Point, Juniper, or similar

· Experience documenting IT Policies and Procedures for the entire company, document IT infrastructure- SOX or similar experience a plus

· Experience managing an IT help desk

· Project Management experience handling small and large projects using industry best practices.
