Network Engineer

Job Description:For this contract-to-hire position, you will use your experience as a Network Engineer to resolve day-to-day issues pertaining to the network environment of this parent company to leading travel companies! You will be analyzing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining network and network services.Your responsibilities will include: Providing input and support for troubleshooting of IP technologies (Network connectivity, IP addressing, Routing Protocols, VPNs, Load Balancing, Firewalls, and QOS) Providing input and support for troubleshooting of Layer 2 LAN technologies (Ethernet, Spanning-tree, VLANs, VTP, and trunking) Providing input and support for troubleshooting Ethernet Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Load-Balancers, VPN concentrators, and Network Servers (Linux based OS) Implementing, operating, and monitoring network equipment, network usage, and systems availability Implementing and operating Network Management systems as they apply to network and network security operations Performing IOS and other operating system upgrades (research, planning, design, implementation) Creating network documentation Maintaining inventory assessments of all network and network server equipment Performing preventative maintenance and testing on all network equipmentJob Experience: 5+ years related work experience Experience with Cisco Experience with Ethernet, Ethernet switching, IP, IP assignment, IP routing (BGP, OSPF, HSRP), Frame-Relay, VPNs, dial-up, Cable and DSL connections, and network cabling Experience with CLI configuration of Cisco, Foundry, Juniper, and NetScaler equipment Experience working as a Network Engineer Experience with Telecom concepts and equipment Experience with the implementation and operation of Cisco works and ACS Experience with cable plant management for voice, data, and service provider connectivity Experience with test equipment (protocol analyzers, sniffers) Understanding of Cisco PIX Firewalls/FWSMs, Cisco VPN Concentrators, and Cisco ACS services Understanding of IP concepts, technologies, and addressing (including CIDR and VLSM) Knowledge of all hardware used for networking and telecommunications Knowledge of network monitoring systems (Openview, Micromuse, Netcool) Knowledge of protocols and systems (Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, ATM, ISDN, TCP/IP, MPLS, TLS, and switching technologies) Solid analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills Excellent communication and collaboration skills Bachelors degree in a related field is preferred CCNP/CCDP is preferredMinimum Education Required: Some CollegeYears of Experience Required: More than 5 years For more information about career opportunities with CompuCom Excell Data visit www.excell.com.
