NETWORK ENGINEER

THE POSITION:

Provide technical support relating to the definition, design, development, and maintenance of enterprise wide computer systems.  Assists in the administration of network access and safeguards network stored data.  Duties include the following.  Other duties may be assigned:




• Assist in the design and deployment of company LANs, WANs, PBX and wireless networks, including servers, routers, hubs, switches, UPSs, and other hardware.

• Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.  Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.

• Collaborate with Network Technology Administrator to assess near and long-term network capacity needs.

• Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.

• Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephone equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.

• Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.

• Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.

• Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.

• Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.

• Participate in managing all network security solutions. 




EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Bachelors Degree in Computer Sciences or related fields, advance degree in Computer Sciences is a plus; and 3+ years of extensive experience in networking environment using Extreme or Cisco solutions.  Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including Citrix MetaFrame, Windows IIS, MS SQL, MS Mail, MS Virtual Server, VM Ware, VoIP;  Excellent verbal and good written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills; ITIL process re-engineering experience is a plus.




THE SELECTION PROCESS:

This process may include a combination of a written examination, performance test, and an oral interview.  The process will also consist of a pre-employment physical exam, which will include a drug screening and a background screening with a criminal history check.  The most competitively qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the selection process.
