Mutual Fund Accounting Team Coordinator
Job Description:PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITIONThis position is responsible for managing the class action process for the TRP funds and separate accounts. This includes ensuring the process is sound, all filings are accurate and submitted prior to the deadlines, and proper research is done regarding outstanding receivables. This coordinator position is also responsible for organizing and managing the security reconciliation process for the separate accounts. This includes ensuring the process is sound, all discrepancies are resolved timely, and the custodians and clients update their records, appropriately.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES* Manages the class action process for the firm. Identifies accounts eligible to file for the class action by interpreting the claim definition set by the courts; works with Client Operations to determine which accounts are eligible to file and have left the firms management; manages the claim completion process through working with Portfolio Accountants who are contacting the Custodian Banks, and then captures and records the data; works with the claim administrator to ensure proper receipt of receivable. Due to the fact that this is a growing field, participates in continual process redesign to reduce risk in this area.* Manages security discrepancy resolution for the separate accounts. Researches holdings between the Custodian Bank and TRP. In order to conduct and evaluate the research and resolve problems, it is necessary to have background knowledge of industry practices. Discrepancies are often caused by corporate actions, unsettled trades or client activity. Sometimes this role will correct the discrepancy themselves and sometimes the discrepancy is corrected by the Portfolio Accountant.* Participates in projects and leadership initiatives for the group such as improving the peer review process, improving the options segregation process, and improving the cash investment process.* Supervises staff; delegates workflow; provides feedback for performance evaluations and assigns training to assist associates in fulfilling performance objectives; provides feedback and recognition to associates.QUALIFICATIONS* Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting/Finance preferred* Minimum of 4 years of TRP or related experience preferred* 3-5 years of mutual fund accounting experience or class action experience preferred* Strong relationship building skills* Self-directed and able to perform assignments independently with attention to detail* Ability to be flexible in a fast paced environment* Experience with Excel and Access* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing* Ability to work accurately and maintain composure under pressure while meeting strict deadlines* Ability to successfully manage and complete multiple responsibilities simultaneously* Curious and desire to learn, self starter* Interest in Equity and Fixed Income markets * Strong analytical and very strong quantitative skills* Ability to work well on a team and to manage workload with in a team* High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3 yrs related work exp., or college degree requiredExpected Travel Time: None Company: T.
