Manager of QA and Testing Center of Excellence
Job Description:PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:Develops, directs and mentors others in highly complex, large scale, corporate IT quality and testing initiatives, using a comprehensive understanding of corporate business, project requirements, strategic imperatives, risk management, and proven approaches to testing and quality. Acts as an internal expert focusing on overall process improvement to ultimately support the successful delivery of the project portfolio on time, within budget, and with acceptable quality. Researches and develops policies, standards, and best practices to improve the overall effectiveness of the organization. Evaluates, recommends, and serves as the project manager for the implementation of tools, products and environments that support and monitor testing, quality, data security and de-identification, and quality process improvement. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:* Provides overall leadership, technical expertise and strategic direction for the Quality Assurance & Testing Methodologies Center of Excellence to ensure continuous improvement of quality through the development of testing and quality assurance standards, implementation of testing, quality assurance and data security tools and products. Works closely with the development and production services organizations to design and implement secure, stable, and effective testing environments. Works closely with direct reports to the CTO and Business Unit heads to guide effective testing and quality strategies. Ensures that the Centers of Excellence (COE) effectively support project. teams and coordinates project implementation efforts to leverage enterprise resources, knowledge and best practices. Defines the strategy for improved quality and predictability in production through testing and quality assurance best practices and builds and executes the strategy to achieve that vision. * Develops integrated approaches to testing and quality assurance that include consideration of and integration with the entire development process. The approach must be sufficiently flexible to support all business units and provide continuity across the testing continuum of unit, system, integration, and user acceptance testing. Provides a strategic direction, guidance and integration of automated testing products and certified quality assurance services. Ensures the successful transfer of knowledge from the Center to project teams and associates, including IT and business. * Interacts with senior management, including direct reports to the CTO and business units, to develop and communicate the testing quality strategy, benefits, and metrics. Interacts with and mentors team members and business unit associates to ensure successful execution of the strategy. Reviews project deliverables for selected projects to ensure compliance with methodology and testing standards. Evaluates and recommends best practices, tools, products, and vendors that can be leveraged by the enterprise to support testing and quality initiatives, environments, and /or supplement project teams to develop and execute project based testing and quality strategies. * Stays abreast and communicates to stakeholders as appropriate regarding new IT technologies, including platforms, data bases, development methodologies that impact testing /quality methodologies and tools. Creates and sustains business literacy and understanding of business processes to successfully influence business unit associates on how testing and quality assurance practices can benefits the various parts of the organization.QUALIFICATIONS:* Project Management Certificate (PMI or PMP)* MBA or MS in Finance or Technology* Knowledge of Financial Services Industry* Seven + years experience in Quality Assurance and Testing including managing testing teams/projects, creation of test strategies, and use and implementation of testing tools and environments* Seven + years experience in project management and execution of development life cycle from idea/product concept to post-production support, as both an individual contributor and manager* Ability to communicate with all levels within an organization, influence and impact* Experience managing a budget* Process-oriented* Analysis and troubleshooting skills* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to forge relationships* Experience managing people* Experience evaluating, selecting, and managing vendors* Demonstrates political savvy and professionalism* Negotiation skills * Strong business acumen* Customer-focused* Competent technical abilities* Understanding of technologies* Proficiency with Microsoft Project* College degree and six years of related work experience, or Associate degree and 8 years related work experience, or High School diploma/equivalent and 10 years related work experience requiredT.
