It is the feeder position for future Directors of Rental. This position is responsible for leading the business unit to overall profitability and growth of the rental product line through successful implementation of: Marketing, Sales Management and Execution, Financial Responsibilities, Leadership, Operations and Fleet Management, Customer Retention and Development and Communication. This position reports directly to the Director of Rental. Additionally the Manager, Rental is responsible for developing the future bench strength for the entire organization. This position will directly manage all Rental personnel including: Rental Account Managers, Branch Rental Manager, Rental Counter Supervisors, Management Trainees, Rental Sales Representatives and Sr. Rental Sales Representatives. Each Manager, Rental will have approximately 12-14 employees and be responsible for annual revenues up to $9.5 million. The Manager, Rental position supports over 15,000 contractual customers as well as cultivating future contractual business. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or 8 (eight) years of equivalent work experience Minimum of 4 (four) years of rental or sales experience Intermediate PowerPoint skills such as creating hyperlinks to other slides, presentations, files, and Web sites; inserting action buttons, clipart, images, and charts into presentations, animating text and graphic objects and adding slide transitions Intermediate Excel skills such as importing a file, Excel databases, one-input tables, scenarios, the LOOKUP function, and linking files. Intermediate MS Word skills such as working with styles, mail merge, tabs, tables, columns and breaks, graphics, fields, headers and footers. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: - Ability to get both verbal and written communication across that has the desired effect - Characteristics include: goal oriented, drive for results, assertive, deals well with ambiguity - Ability to build and develop a team while utilizing performance management tools effectively - Deals comfortably with senior management - High energy, self motivated, self directed person with the ability to focus on multiple projects and activities simultaneously and able to thrive in a fast paced team environment RESPONSIBILITIES: Specifically the Manager, Rental will be held accountable for the following: Marketing: Driving rental utilization through successful market penetration using sound marketing activities. Directly overseeing all RAM, RSR and MT marketing activities. Successfully implementing business units marketing plans including: consumer, local, regional and national programs and coordinating all the marketing activities of RAMs as well as rental personnel. Responsible for all marketing promotions such as direct mail, inbound and outbound telemarketing, outside sales efforts, weekly blitz activities and maintains constant communication with the Field Marketing Coordinators. Ensuring inbound and outbound telemarketing standards are being met at the companies required levels. Driving and executing sales events such as blitz's customer appreciation activities, etc. Market Share and Penetration: Reacting to market changes with sense of urgency in order to maintain and grow the market. Ensuring appropriate staffing levels at all full service locations Anticipating market and customer needs by either moving equipment in or out of locations to meet demands and recognize and react quickly to market opportunities. Ability to forecast market potential and demand and optimize and react appropriately with your fleet and sales force. Sales Execution: Establishing and enforcing authority guidelines/limits for pricing within the rental counters, RSRs and RAMs sales forces Maintaining competitive awareness and market pricing Monitoring and enforcing price incentives driven by market conditions Proactively recognize and reacting quickly to market supply and demand Directly responsible for overseeing the execution of the entire plan to close process at all locations. Responsible for sales protocols between all RAMs/RSRs including lead generation and follow up Direct Sales Management of the RAMs: Directly responsible for RAM quota obtainment in all categories including: New Rental Revenue, Preferred Rental Revenue, New Accounts and Lease Conversions. Conducting weekly sales meetings Driving consistent management around pipeline and activity Ensuring collaboration with local lease sales force Financial: Responsible for overall profitability of both the rental and trailer pool product lines specifically achieving both revenue and margin plans. Directly responsible for maintaining compliance with company, local, state, federal and other regulatory agencies Ability to forecast monthly, quarterly and annual results accurately and timely Responsible for analyzing and interpreting performance through multiple financial reports and metrics. Directly responsible for ensuring effective communication between rental operations, maintenance operations, and the sales force on a local level throughout the entire BU. Customer: Driving profitable revenue growth by maintaining and growing customer relationships Responsible for overall satisfaction for all internal and external customers Overseeing all customer concerns, issues, disputes in order to maintain the ongoing relationship. Communication: Recognizing and reacting quickly to market opportunities Ability to speak to and articulate the performance of the business unit to all aspects of management Building constructive and effective relationships with both internal and external customers Communicating effectively across all functions Maintaining composure when addressing stressful situations Clearly articulating Ryder's product and service offerings
