Manager, Payroll

Job Description:Duties will includeManage Staff, select, train, develop and manage performance of direct reports• Provide coaching and counseling• Coordinate, plan, and assign work for staff• Provide direction to payroll associates on a daily basis. • Handle payroll inquiries from staff. Oversee on-cycle payroll processing• Assume Responsibility for the oversight related to the preparation and processing of payroll runs with multiple pay frequencies. Audit the payroll• Direct the analysis, investigation and correction of errors associated with payroll data. • Monitor payroll process for accuracy and timeliness. • Audit Outbound FilesEstablish best practices• Develop and implement procedures for recovering wage loans, relocation reimbursements, etc. from terminated employees. • Supervise the manual processing of wage loans, payroll adjustments, paychecks, benefit adjustments, special bonus awards, and commission payments. • Work with staff to monitor / resolve payroll issues and to standardize procedures to improve efficiency of process. Ensure accurate tax processing• Track foreign payroll taxes; calculate hypothetical taxes and process tax settlement calculations for employees on international assignments. • Ensure the correct deduction of federal, state, local, SUI, and SDI taxes from employees’ wages. • Assist the tax accountants with the preparation of foreign tax returns for employees on international assignments. • Coordinate the reporting of international assignees • Manage Standard Communications• Year End Processing Monitor and enhance payroll systems• Identify system enhancements and solutions to program problems. • Partner with IT support to gain approval for enhancements and maintenance to ensure smooth running of payroll processing. • System Update TestingManage special payment processing• Ensure the correct processing of special payments to employees, • Track payments to be grossed-up and ensure that proper gross-up is applied. • Puerto Rico Christmas Bonus payout• Severance Calculations Handle special projects• Assist the Senior Manager with all aspects of client new acquisitions and implementations• Develop and maintain payroll process documentation• Functional M&P'sIdeal candidate • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or the equivalent of a minimum of four to six years related work experience in payroll systems and supervision. • Attainment of, or the significant progress towards, the Certified Payroll Professional designation is highly desired.• Thorough knowledge of company and departmental practice and procedures related to payroll activities. • Thorough knowledge of tax regulations in regards to withholding of payroll taxes. • Experience in managing functional groups.• Previous experience with payroll processing for a large client (10,000 + employees preferred)• Experience with a third party relationship processing relationship is desirable• Thorough knowledge of payroll systems (SAP Preferred)• General understanding of system programming. • General knowledge of benefit plans. • General knowledge of expatriate withholding and payment procedures. • Ability to plan, organizes, and schedule work flow to meet rigid payroll deadlines. • Ability to process a high volume of detailed work in a short time frame. • Proficiency with various software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for Windows. • Solid oral and written communication skillsMinimum Education Required: BachelorExpected Travel Time: About 50% Contact Information: intConfig Email: Apply by Email
