Management, operation, and continuous improvement of the microbiology laboratory capability including developing, implementing and maintaining microbiology programs including environmental monitoring (air, surface, fluid), Micro ID, Bioburden, Limulus Amebocite Lysate (LAL), and new types of microbiological testing as necessary, as well as Sterilization Validation. Development of staff and direction of department located in TEM, MUR, and SC, including budget and resource management in support of R&D and Commercial Operations. Responsible for overseeing day to day operations and projects and will not have any direct reports. Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures. Implements a staffing plan by identifying resource requirements, writing justifications for additional personnel, obtaining approval for changes, and coordinating the selection process with Human Resources. Interacts with internal and external customers, by meeting regularly, responding to requests and explaining procedures. Interprets and executes policies that affect work processes and personnel within the assigned organizational unit. Contributes to the development of operational policies and procedures that affect personnel within the assigned organizational unit and cross functional affected areas. Contributes to the maturity and effectiveness of departmental processes. Acts as Subject Matter Expert in Microbiology and supports internal and external audits within the Microbiological and Sterilization Validation functions.Microbiology degree preferred. Advanced degree preferred.
