Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Manager I, Industrial Engineering Job Description:PRIMARY PURPOSE:Manages the industrial engineering group. Devotes a significant portion of time to managerial, leadership, and employee development of a complex or large department or staff. The role includes managing the performance of design, analysis and improvement of integrated systems of people, materials, information, equipment and energy.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:1. Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high quality staff.2. Manages Industrial Engineering functional deliverables and champions technical excellence for processes.3. Participates in and influences industrial engineering activities.4. Develops and executes departmental budgets. Leads or represents function in periodic business metric reviews.5. Determines appropriate staff levels, schedules and resources. Works with other managers to understand priorities and plans resources and time allocation accordingly.6. Responsible for site space management driving a program of lean continuous improvement. 7. Establishes and influences cross-functional relationships.8. Initiates cross-functional partnerships to identify and resolve production/engineering issues.9. Prioritizes and drives execution of multiple complex department projects.10. Identifies business improvement opportunities within the department, and company.11. Sponsors, supports, and drives quality and cost improvement projects.12. Develops departmental objectives and metrics and drives execution of them.13. Champions engineering support of production initiatives and new product activities.14. Directs problem solving exercises and educates subordinates on use of problem solving tools including Six Sigma, Kepner-Tregoe, and similar methods.15. Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports BSC’s Quality Policy, Quality System and the appropriate regulations for the area they support. Ensure employees are trained to do their work and their training is documents.Job Experience:EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and 5 years’ experience and 3+ years of people management experience in medical devices, healthcare or related field; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration is desirable. Proficient in the application of Lean manufacturing principals. Demonstrated experience managing complex, cross-functional projects.Expected Travel Time: NoneThis company may offer relocation assistance.
