This is accomplished by ensuring the functional area has the resources, training and information necessary to meet departmental and business objectives.RESPONSIBILITIES:· Provide guidance, resources, and support to the area. Delegate key responsibilities / functions to appropriate departmental personnel. Establish and clearly communicate departmental and individual objectives and expectations to support divisional / senior management objectives. Responsible for employee development and talent management for department(s).· Engage in budgeting process by gathering data to support budget requests that impact own functional area(s), as well as collaborating with department managers within the process chain to assist in site budget preparation. Responsible for the day-to-day management of area budget. Track variances to budget and plan accordingly. Provide to next level of management support and justification for deviations to budget, and forecast budget item needs.· Identify and communicate operational demands and define customer and vendor expectations. Responsible for developing schedules / plans to support both short-term and long-term business needs and objectives. Ensure optimization of production and capacity capabilities.· Review and/or approve departmental documentation and written procedures such as SOPs, investigation reports, etc. Monitor and audit functional area(s) to ensure required documentation and procedures are up to date and consistent with current practices, processes and requirements.· Responsible for all aspects of quality and compliance within the functional area(s). Assure area activities are in compliance with SOP’s, cGMP’s, production schedules, safety requirements and facility practices and policies, and that expectations are clearly defined and communicated. Responsible for monitoring quality / compliance and identifying appropriate corrective actions. Foster an environment in which responsibilities and results are achieved with the highest level of commitment to quality.· Identify and oversee departmental training requirements and programs. Assure that processes and resource commitments are in place to support training and development of staff. Responsible for monitoring those reporting to them to ensure training is current and effective. Displays a passion for staff development and understands the importance of monitoring training effectiveness. · Responsible for assuring the appropriate tools and resources are in place to support process improvement. Needs to assume the role of “change driver” for the department / area. Plans strategically for improvement by linking budgeting, performance management, system deployment and planning to achieve process improvements.· Clearly communicates business information, expectations and objectives to staff and ensures appropriate dissemination to the workforce (ie. Tracking and trending activities requiring appropriate reaction to the findings and proper communication of information). Develops strong and effective inter-departmental relations with those in the production chain as well as ancillary groups such as Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Finance, Human Resources and Purchasing.· Provide suitable design and construction for buildings / facilities and equipment to be utilized in the veterinary biological and pharmaceuticals manufacturing operations in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.· Establish and maintain adequate departmental staffing and manage consultant services to make possible the construction of equipment and facilities that conform to approved specifications and regulatory requirements.· Participate in the review and resolution of problems and /or changes related to facilities and equipment activities for the manufacture of veterinary biological and pharmaceuticals. In addition, verify the problem is properly resolved in a timely manner to prevent reoccurrence.· Manage a system to make possible the control of documents and records in support of Engineering activities for the manufacture of veterinary biologicals and pharmaceuticals that conforms to regulatory requirements.· Monitor validation and change management activities performed within the Engineering department to insure procedures are followed in support of the manufacture of veterinary biologicals and pharmaceuticals.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:· BS/MS degree in an engineering discipline or 10 year equivalent experience.· Minimum of 5-7 years experience in manufacturing environment necessary, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry. · Position requires the ability to work hours outside of routine schedule as necessary. Also required is the ability to effectively perform in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.· Previous leadership experience required.ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:· cGMP Training / Management Training· Familiarity with HVAC and/or high purity water systems. · Ability to manage multiple projects that are complex in nature and broad in scope. · Ability to build cross-functional teams that share information and achieve results throughout multiple departments and across multiple functions.· Prior supervisory experience preferred.· Previous experience with Lean, Six-Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
