Machine Shop Supervisor Duties/Responsibilities: Manage all in-house machining and assures that all work is performed in accordance with the company Quality System, Safety Policies and customer requirements. Manage and coordinate team operations for all assigned functions and staff including but not limited to meeting assigned goals and objectives and leading functional and cross-functional communication within the organization. Program, Set-up, and run production on CNC mills as required. Manage day to day machining and insure compliance with the company quality system in order to maintain high standards of quality, reliability and safety. Insure that all shop employees follow documented instructions given on the shop orders in order to control product quality throughout the manufacturing process. Manage and control all machine shop supplies in accordance with the company Quality System and manufacturer requirements. Administer & document the training of employees on operating procedures, new processes, machining techniques and coating according to shop operating procedures. Administer and document weekly safety meetings as they relate to machining. Interface with third party inspectors as required per quality requirements Manage direct reports by conducting performance and salary and performance reviews; coaches and mentors staff by creating and implementing individual career development plans. Hires, manages, promotes, disciplines and removes staff as needed. Schedules internal and external training for staff as needed. Select, lead, evaluate, reward and develops staff ensuring required competencies and resources are in place to accomplish objectives, providing regular status reports to senior management. Requirements Must have 5 to 10 years technical experience in machining and 2 years experience in managing machine shop staff and complex activities. These experiences should be gained in the area of CNC machining and high production operations Extensive knowledge of programming designs for the CNC milling machines Must be able to read, interpret, and work from engineering prints, drawings, and sketches Ability to quickly estimate job times/costs Knowledge of precision measuring tools and inspection equipment Ability to produce efficient and cost-effective programs and operation steps Knowledge of lathe machining desired Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Must have good computer skills and knowledge of computer software (Windows, Word, Excel, etc).
