Lineman

Performs a full range of work involved in the installation, maintenance, repair, modification, and testing of primary and secondary electrical distribution systems. Performs preventive maintenance inspections to determine safety hazards, damage, and repair requirements.Plans, lay-outs installs, modifies test, maintains, and repairs a variety of fixtures, hardware and equipment including transformers, generators, converter, insulators, breakers, fuses, conductors, switches, cable, conduit, wires, controllers, recording equipment, etc. Splices wires by removing insulation, twisting or soldering or connecting by mechanical connectors. Forms and seals various types of cable joints, assuring seal will not be loosened by cable movement. Bends and grounds underground cable. Tests, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs all parts of system, including load, transformer, switchers, cable connections, etc. Distribution systems and equipment include, but are not limited to emergency power systems, automatic transfer switches and bypass/isolation switches, switchboards, motor control centers, medical/surgical lighting, etc. Position Requirements Working knowledge of installation, maintenance, repair, modification, and testing of primary and secondary electrical distribution systems.Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
