Laboratory Technician

The Gorilla Glue Company is a leader in the adhesive category and is seeking a Lab Technician to join our team.  This position will assist the R&D Manager in conducting a variety of testing in support of the Quality, Operations and New Product Development teams. This person will be responsible to independently operate test equipment, carry out experiments and document results.  Qualifications include a mechanical aptitude, strong organization skills, ease with a variety of equipment and fixturing. Strong Excel skills, experience with adhesives and materials testing, basic statistics a plus.

   Duties

 

·         Operating and maintaining standard test equipment  including viscometer, pH meter, environmental oven and universal test machine

·         Routine testing of current products for Quality Control and incoming quality inspection according to established schedules and procedures

 ·         Testing of new product samples which might require establishing new test procedures and fixturing

 ·         Sample preparation for testing

 ·         Maintenance of laboratory notebook and databases to carefully document test procedures and results.

 ·         Organizing and archiving data and reporting results.

 ·         Assist in maintaining test lab including test supply inventories, equipment operation and calibration, sample organization and safety.

 ·         Assist in the design and execution of experiments

 Qualifications:

·         Minimum 2 years experience with test equipment

·         Degree in related fields of Engineering or Chemistry a plus 

·         Strong in Microsoft Excel

·          Self-motivated, able to work independently and demonstrate effective initiative

·         Strong organizational skills to efficiently collect and organize large numbers of samples for  testing and resulting data

·         Have a strong work ethic and “team� attitude

·         Possess safe laboratory practice knowledge and skills





Physical Demands:

Position may involve testing which requires lifting up to ~50 pounds.
