LEGAL SECRETARY/ASSISTANT

Job Description

Perform administrative and clerical duties to support and General Counsel and Associate Counsel. Qualified candidate must have experience in a fast-paced legal office environment.

 

Qualifications

§ Knowledge of statues and rules of court governing filing deadlines, service, scheduling discovery, and issuance of subpoenas is expected.

§ Dealing with law firm personnel as well as opposing counsel in scheduling meetings, telephone conferences, appearances, mediations and depositions.

§ Must work well with other BexarMet department personnel.

§ Must be very detailed-oriented and able to make thorough analysis and judgments.

§ Must have the ability to plan, organize, and effectively present ideas and concepts, both within and outside the company.

§ Minimum of 7 years experience as a Legal Secretary/Assistant for large and/ or medium size firm or for an In-house legal department.

§ Must have high business ethics.

§ Excellent MS office Word, Windows NT, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint skills.

§ Understanding of and ability to maintain confidential nature of Law Department information.

§ Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

§ Ability to work well under pressure.

§ Ability to take initiative.

§ Maturity, punctuality, reliabity and discretion.

§ Candidate must posses the ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate flexibility in responding to change.

§ Must possess excellent communication skills
