Job Description:PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:The Investment Specialist provides proactive guidance on investment solutions via a needs-based consultative selling approach to both current and prospective customers who have placed an inbound call to T. Rowe Price. In doing so, Inbound Investment Specialists will acquire new assets to T. Rowe Price, retain existing assets and capture a greater share of customers’ and prospects’ assets in a manner consistent with the T. Rowe Price brand. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:* In responding to inbound calls from prospective customers on all T. Rowe Price products and services, including small business retirement plans, Variable Annuity, and 529 products, the Inbound Investment Specialist independently and proactively utilizes a consultative sales approach in order to move customers to action of investing with T. Rowe Price.On every call, the Inbound Investment Specialist must quickly and accurately: identify and assess the customer’s stated and unstated needs analyze the customer’s portfolio to determine historic investment diversification, preferences, results, tolerance for risk, etc assess the customer’s investment experience and knowledge, preferences and action orientation, and investment goals walk through various “what if” investment scenarios and potential impact recommend investments and services to meet the customer’s financial goals close the sale and move customer to action (including setting up new accounts)-all during one “live” interaction on the phone with a customer, while simultaneously overcoming objections, cross-selling additional products, and leveraging benefits of particular product/service that are most relevant to that individual investor.* Serves as a key resource to Operations Associates on internal transfers on all TRP products, services, and investment tools and accepts internal transfers of calls during which the Inbound Investment Specialist follows the consultative selling model described above to help meet client needs (e.g. Personal Services Specialists, Service Specialists, etc.) and acquire new assets to T. Rowe Price.* Develops qualified referrals and leads for Advisory Services Group and the Investor Centers by determining customer demographics, asking questions to determine opportunity size, and uncovering the best solution (over the phone vs. face to face interaction) for the customer. The goal is to develop higher dollar value opportunities on which to capitalize.* Acts as a subject matter expert to customers regarding T. Rowe Price web site in research, investment and on-line sales tools (e.g. Morningstar, PRIM, RIS, NASU, etc.) in order to ensure customers have accurate information and access to T. Rowe Price products and services.QUALIFICATIONS:* College Degree strongly preferred* 2-3 years relevant sales or financial services experience preferred* Ability to sell T. Rowe Price products and services and demonstrate our conversation model* In-depth knowledge of products, services, policies and T. Rowe Price desktop applications* Ability to motivate Investment Specialists (sales associates)* Successful completion & receipt of Series 66 and 7 within first 4 months in the role required* Series 6 and 63 highly preferred* Demonstrated initiative/leadership through participation in job related groups or committees* College degree, or a high school diploma/equivalent and a minimum of one year related work experience requiredT.
