Investment Data Systems Consultant - Fixed Income

Job Description:PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITIONLeads the operational aspects of the Fixed Income Analytics component of the Eagle System. Serves as an advocate of the front office and Investment Data Management group in the implementation and ongoing maintenance of fixed income security data. Oversees vendor relationships and influences IT direction to ensure the needs of multiple parties across the Firm, primarily Investment staff, are being met. Responsible for safeguarding the integrity of Fixed Income investment and benchmark data and coordinating downstream impacts amongst the parties relying on Eagle Fixed Income data.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES1. Leads vendor management activities for Fixed Income component of Eagle. Works with vendors regarding the retrieval and integration of data as required by consuming systems and groups (HiNet, Eagle, CRD, Vision, etc.). Understands vendor feeds, how data is coded, defined, calculated and stored and uses this knowledge to ensure the highest level of data integrity throughout the Eagle platform. Builds and maintains adequate infrastructure to ensure portfolio management and end user needs are met. 2. Serves as project manger for assessing, implementing, and maintaining new requirements and instrument types across multiple areas and systems. Requires deep understanding of data and strong negotiation skills due to the start-up nature of the function and criticality of the system. Shares in decision making and planning process for larger and more complex enhancements with Front Office and Senior Manager. Spearheads Fixed Income data stewardship from the operational perspective. Leads business analysis in partnership with the Front Office and IT. Develops strategy, analyzes risk and assesses the impact and implementation of new products, securities, risk factors, and security identifiers from an operational perspective while working with other impacted groups. 3. Incumbent develops testing strategies from a business perspective and oversees the implementation and ongoing testing efforts of Fixed Income data within Eagle and downstream systems and databases (e.g. MIDR, HiNet, CRD and Merrin trading platforms). Possesses thorough understanding of complex security data components, calculations, and expected outcomes which enable incumbent to direct TRPIT support and ensure accuracy. 4. Manages data priorities across the IDG production team and develops policies and procedures to ensure effective data management for the Eagle system. Has matrixed reporting responsibilities, which will entail overseeing and delegating data steward work to others within the team. 5. Proactively communicates updates, issues, and project plans with front, middle and back offices (primarily Investment Systems, TRPIT, BSS, Investment Compliance). Serves as primarily liaison and facilitator to multiple parties regarding current developments and future impacts to Fixed Income. Continually negotiates with all parties to recommend and/or determine best solutions. Must understand and balance competing agendas and priorities of these groups and exercise discretion and influence accordingly. Charged with handling most negotiations independently, yet understands when to advocate and or/involve a particular stakeholder and how hard to pursue an agenda. QUALIFICATIONS College degree and 4 years related work experience preferred Project management experience Financial services industry knowledge and experience Strong process orientation Must be a self-starter in a relatively new territory Systems and database knowledge Ability to navigate the organization effectively, working with associates of varying technical abilities levels Understanding of systems analysis phases and systems integration Ability to understand code Ability to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms and communicate to both operational and technical parties Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, at all levels of the organization Analytical skills Negotiation skills 5-7 years of relevant experience preferredT.
