Dole markets a growing line of packaged foods and frozen fruit and is a produce industry leader in nutrition and research. The Dole Nutrition Institute (DNI), a research and education organization founded by Dole Food Company Chairman, David H. Murdock, seeks an intern for 3 - 5 days per week (Monday-Friday). Additional information on the DNI can be found at www.dolenutrition.com PRIMARY PURPOSE OF INTERNSHIP:DNI aims to ''''Feed the World with Knowledge'''' through a variety of communication vehicles including a monthly newsletter, Food for Thought magazine, videos, websites and kiosks. Interns will be responsible for conducting secondary research on nutrition to support the DNI's communication outreach while gaining experience in nutrition marketing. This internship will be primarily focused on the marketing side of the Dole Nutrition Institute, including assisting with research related tasks and projects, web-based projects, and media deadlines. RESPONSIBILITIES:This internship will be focused on working with the marketing side of the DNI, including the following:-Assist with research related tasks and projects.-Edit & proofread draft publications-Assist department with answering phones and handling various tasks such as filing, data entry, word processing.-Responsible for the coordination and timely completion of mass mailing projects, web-based projects, and media deadlines.-Additional duties as assigned.Internship opens late September/early October 2008.Note: There is no relocation or housing assistance available for this internship. EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:-Solid research skills (Internet, i.e., Lexis/Nexis, Newspapers/Magazines, internal file library, etc.)-Intermediate to advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes)-Strong interest in nutrition, fitness and wellnessKEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:-Excellent verbal and written communication skills (strong copy editing & proofreading skills a must)-Ability to prioritize, work under tight deadlines with attention to detail and quick turn-around.--Attention to detail-Ability to handle multiple tasks-High level of motivation and the ability to work with limited supervision-Ability to solve problems -Self starter, takes initiative, identifies and completes tasks-Ability to support multiple principals-Ability to properly handle confidential information-Ability to work well in a team environmentEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Degree emphasis in nutrition/public health, dietetics, food science, marketing/business or related education is preferred RESPOND HERE!
