Inland Marine Branch Manager
Job Description:Position Summary: Marine Manager Establish and maintain an effective and profitable IM book of business as well as in the territories served by the branch. (Total premium approximately $10-$15 million.) As well as lead team of UW’s. Allocation of Time/Week: Business cultivation 35% UW new business 30% Renewals 10% Referrals 10% UW Management 15% Core Responsibilities: • Analyze UW data, relay decisions to agents. • Handle referrals. • Manage UW staff ensure regional targets achieved. • Assist ARVP/RVP in planning/ development of territory. • Evaluate, UW, price business submitted w/in company guidelines. • Perform financial statement analysis • Territory mgt: manage to established LR targets, growth and mix of business targets. • Develop team members. • Assure department adheres to policies, practices, procedures and standards through management of UW staff and referral process • Cultivate NB from existing and new agents. • Execute operational and financial plans with ARVP/RVP. • Develop/maintain training programs. • Coordinate activities with other branch departments. • Manage agents in designated territory ensuring targets for NB, RN, loss ratio and mix of business are achieved. Experience / Knowledge • 5+ years of IM UW • 1-2 years managing staff at various levels in different locations • Apply/interpret company policies, procedures, standards • Interpret business unit and corporate strategy and interdependencies • Understand HO - technology, UW, operations, marketing • Strong communication skills - verbal and written • Strong sales focus and marketing perspective Key Accountabilities and Deliverables: • New Business development/production • Renewal retention • Achieve Loss Ratio Targets • Profitability • New Agency Appts.
