The Infrastructure Architect will develop strategies for servers, storage, workstations, middleware, non-application software, networks, telecommunications, and the physical facilities that support the applications and business processes to provide an efficient and scalable IT infrastructure. The Architect will be expected to evaluate and recommend the selection of software and hardware components of the infrastructure that support the IT and business strategies. The Architect will be responsible for developing and implementing metrics to measure progress against program objectives, including performance availability, and total cost of ownership. Contributing to data center strategy and development of technical plans for implementing those strategies will be critical. The Architect will also participate in communicating progress to the Unisource IT leadership team and, at times, Unisource Business Leaders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Infrastructure Architecture & Design Establish and document technical infrastructure (as-is & to-be) Maintain technical awareness and applicability of new technologies Application Integration technologies Ensure compliance to standard architecture wherever possible and developing strategies for managing variances from standards Determine and communicate the cost for exceptions to standards for projects Service Level Management Set service level for applications as part of charter process Assure capacity and performance planning based on business forecasts and SLA Project budgeting, business case development, & financial analysis of benefits/costs Technology asset life cycle and refresh planning Required Skills
The candidate must possess a strong knowledge base of Enterprise Infrastructure & Operations, including: IT distributed hardware and operating system platforms, such as HP-UX, Red Hat, Linux on Intel/AMD, Windows on Intel/AMD, AS/400, SAN, HP MPE and supporting infrastructure utilities such as backup applications and job schedulers. Platform/server virtualization technologies in both development and production environments. Technical knowledge of data center environments, including physical infrastructure, power and cooling. Networking technologies including data & voice networks, Internet, routing/switching. Enterprise Infrastructure Applications including Exchange, Office/Outlook, Blackberry messaging services, Active Directory & authentication technologies, SMS, Monitoring systems, etc. The candidate must have excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills and some project management skills. The candidate should also have 8+ years of deep infrastructure & operations experience.
