To sustain and enhance our leadership position in the pharmaceutical industry, we continue to recruit, develop and motivate individuals whose skills, values, and work ethic will grow and improve our business.Job SummaryWorking as part of a team with other members of the Global Privacy Office (located in the Law Department), responsible for the timely delivery of competent legal advice to business units and other Law Department attorneys related to privacy issues as well as the oversight of privacy and legal risk management/mitigation of personal data (employee, customer, healthcare professional and business partner) held by the Company. The Global Privacy Office (GPO) is considered a consultancy organization (and not just a compliance/policy-making function) and the incumbent will be expected to support the wide-ranging needs of the GPO’s clients. The position reports to the Chief Privacy Officer.Job ResponsibilitiesProvide legal and strategic advice to internal business* and Law Department clients on privacy and data security issues, including applicable laws and legal approaches to privacy (e.g., HIPAA, PCI, EU Data Protection Directive, Safe Harbor, APEC, data security breaches, Social Security number use and data destruction), Company policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) (*business clients include commercial organizations as well as functional organizations, such as HR, Marketing, IT, Sourcing (procurement) and Production (manufacturing))Participate in and support GPO initiatives (e.g., third party access and informed consent)Support the risk identification and mitigation objectives of Wyeth’s Information Security Risk Management Council Collaborate with various internal business organizations to leverage and further update privacy practices through people, process (Company policies and SOPs) and technologySupport outreach, awareness-building and training efforts to improve privacy and data security in the CompanyCollaborate with external peer groups and others for informal benchmarking, networking and knowledge sharing and advance key stakeholder awareness of privacy issuesMonitor worldwide/global privacy (and related) legislation and industry (best) practices to provide meaningful guidance to key stakeholders Basic QualificationsJ.D. degree and member of at least one U.S. State’s BarProactive thinking requiredExcellent analytical, communications (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills required (especially excellent presentation skills, ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and all levels of employees and ability to translate legal issues into business issues and weigh/balance competing objectives and priorities)Minimum of 10 years legal experience preferredPrivacy experience preferred; privacy professional certification a plusMultinational experience (and international outlook) preferred Big Pharma experience a plus; understanding of health care industry preferredTransactional experience a plusFamiliarity with IT or logical security a plusStrong leadership and strategic counseling skills preferredRelocation is available for this position.Wyeth offers competitive compensation and benefits programs, including child-care subsidies, flex-time, business casual attire, educational assistance and professional development programs.
