General Manager (titled Department Manager) / Project Manager

 

TransCore, a subsidiary of Roper Industries, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) is seeking a Department Manager/Project manager to manage the existing TransCore business unit in the State of Washington.

 

Position Overview:

 

The Department Manager will be responsible for management of our existing Toll Systems Operations contract that employs over 70 staff who perform system maintenance, customer service, as well as toll collection accounting and auditing. 

 

This professional is also responsible for managing a software team who perform system enhancements to meet our customer’s requests. 

 

Responsibilities also include developing annual budgets and monitoring costs throughout the year to ensure project is being performed within budget and scope. 

 

This position does involve extensive customer interaction related to current contract operations and upcoming toll initiatives. 

 

There is also an expectation of account development in order to grow the practice through acquisition of new contracts with the State and other local agencies, as well as expansion of our current contract.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 P&L responsibility for assigned DepartmentLeadership of business development activitiesCustomer relationship managementManagement of staff quantity and skills to meet current needsOn-time and on-budget project deliverables

 

 The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

 A minimum of 10 years of experience managing large scale system deployment and operations contracts.  Ability to interact with the customer to ensure current requirements are being met and modifying operations to meet the changing needs of our customer.Ability to identify new business opportunities and customers.  Work with perspective customers to indentify project requirements and educate customer on TransCore’s skills and capabilities.Proven experience in taking a lead role in developing proposals for new business.Ability to mange a large staff across a broad skill range including customer service personnel, maintenance technicians, software developers and testers and managers.Project management experience detailing success in monitoring project schedules and finances to ensure that projects are performed within established project schedules.Excellent professional communication skills enabling effective communication of technical information and project deliverable to a broad range of people through both written and verbal presentations.Experience and working knowledge of RFID and other automatic vehicle identification technologies is desirable.

Education:  BS Degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences or Business Management
