GENERAL MANAGER

 

Summary: The General Manager has the responsibility for the overall operation of the local plant. This includes all aspects of the operation.

 

Led the overall operation of the business: overseeing the following departments: Heat Treat, Brazing, Welding, Coating, Shipping and Receiving, and Quality Department.  Develop strategic plans.  Maintained NADCAP and Quality Mgmt System in AS9100.  Oversee sales efforts and research new market developments.  Ensure customers are in compliance w/ ISO 14001 Environmental Mgmt System.  Maintain Cal OSHA regs.  Directed employees to maintain equipment and facility professional appearance by utilizing disciplines such as 5S principles and other standards. 

 

Requirements (Qualifications & Skills):

 

Education – High school diploma (or equivalent) with advanced training in operations, management skills, finance, metallurgy, quality, safety, and environmental management.

 

Experience necessary – Thorough knowledge of heat treat processes and minimum five years business management experience. Requires 2+ years supervisory experience.

 

 

Work Environment – Usually office type conditions, however some portion of day is spent in industrial setting in what could be either hot or cold, dirty conditions.

 

Other: Must have the ability to motivate and lead people. Must also have a good concept of computers and working with various computer programs. Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism.

 

Essential Job Functions (Duties & Responsibilities):

  Must have a detailed working knowledge of the BMS program. Must be an advocate for Bodycote to customers, employees and communities Utilize equipment >85% based on 168/week Must strive to return 25% pre-tax profit with annual organic sales growth of 15% Control working capital (i.e. A/R < 45 days average, < 10%, > 60 days) Develop and execute 2-year strategic plan Conduct Annual Customer Satisfaction Survey (80+ Sales Volume) Maintain quality accreditation of facility by at least one recognized authority Lead sales effort, quoting, pricing, and market penetration Personally sell to key accounts (>25% of time) Know your competitors in a strategic way Comply with, promote and enforce safety, health, environmental (SHE), rules, regulations, company policies, and laws Maintain equipment and facility in an upscale appearance (5S Principle) Promote and practice timely and accurately communication, verbally and in writing Hire, train, motivate, and retain a quality oriented and productive work force Integrate employee development, actively cultivating a successor Promote and practice team work with other plants and corporate staff Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
