Field Material Damage Appraiser

Job Description:The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking an experienced Auto Appraiser to cover the North Shore in Massachusetts. The ideal candidate would reside in or around Revere, Chelsea, Saugus, Stoneham, Malden, Somerville or Medford.This position will be based out of the home and responsible for writing accurate appraisals and negotiating cost effective repair figures on repairable vehicles and accurate values on total loss vehicles. This individual will analyze damage, evaluate the practicality of repair vs. replace, document files appropriately, obtain agreed figures with repair facilities, contact owners, issue indemnity payments when appropriate and meet production standards. Requirements: Strong negotiation skills and the ability to deal with conflict and resolve issues promptly and fairly is key. Possess good written and oral communication skills, analytical ability and technical background. 3 plus years of related appraisal experience preferred A valid Massachusetts State driver's license and a clear MVR is necessary for employment. Familiarity with CCC Pathways or another auto estimating system required along with Windows proficiency, Excel and Word. High school diploma/GED required, bachelor's degree preferred along with 3 or more years of appraisal/estimating experience. A Company car and gas card is provided.
