SUMMARY:

 

The Executive Vice President - Corporate Services has overall ownership for the vision, strategy, staffing, execution, and results in providing corporate support and services to all areas of the Company; doing so in a way that is aligned with the vision and strategic goals of the Company and the strategic goals of each business unit, that anticipates and proactively addresses relevant issues across the Company, that accelerates the growth and performance of each area of the Company, with a view toward both the short term and the long term success of the Company. The Executive Vice President – Corporate Services should be focused on building to meet Horizon’s future needs and should be broad thinking and innovative. This position is responsible for providing leadership, support and direction to the following groups at Horizon: Information Technology; Finance and Accounting; People Services; and Risk Management. The EVP - Corporate Services is responsible for living the values and promoting the mission of Horizon. This position reports to the CEO.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Overview - Lead the Corporate Services Division according to the following guiding executive leadership competencies: Vision: Develops and maintains a strategic vision for the Division’s future, often distant future; aspires to dramatic and innovative advances. Adjusts as required based on the environment and Company strategic goals.Strategic:  Assist in the creation and development of the Company’s strategic direction and goals. Creates strategies for growth to fulfill the Company’s vision, and continuously compares against reality. Clearly frames the issues; and involves stakeholders and teams in determining and developing the strategy.Planning and Execution:  Establishes goals and develops plans in order to accomplish designated initiatives for the Division. Communicates clearly with all stakeholders (why, what, how); sets clear milestones along the way; learns and adjusts as necessary; and holds team accountable for results.  Leadership:  Demonstrates a willingness to serve his/her team and others. Makes decisions that support and promote Company culture. Aligns team via clear, consistent, and continuous reinforcement of mission, values, vision, strategy and goals. Continually listens, teaches and motivates his/her team.
Makes decisions, exercises judgment and leads others in a way that he/she becomes personally identified with a handful of crisply defined principles that are critical to the Division’s and Company’s success. Develops relationships throughout the Company, community and industry in order to add value to self, others and Horizon.Human Capital Development:  Builds human capital through superior hiring, ongoing coaching, periodic formal management and division meetings, and development, retention and dismissal practices.  Functional Competence: While delegating many day-to-day responsibilities, he/she will be sufficiently familiar with the business details in order to provide the most relevant coaching input and to anticipate and be proactive in addressing potential issues.Learning Mentality: Builds a culture of continuous learning and development, assisting others in enhancing their knowledge and skill sets to perform their jobs well in an environment that is constantly growing and changing.Innovation:  Builds a culture of innovation in the Division and assists in developing a culture of innovation across the Company. Has and develops in others a broad perspective and manages in a way that creates newness and promotes and generates innovative thinking and solutions.

Specific Responsibilities:Provide leadership to the Corporate Services Division and to the Company based on honesty and integrity, being forward looking and proactive, demonstrating strong functional competence, and motivating and inspiring others. Participate at the executive level in developing, implementing, and executing the strategic plan and business strategies of the Company.Through leadership and strong general management skills, develop a culture of innovation and a service focus in the Corporate Services Division that is closely aligned with the strategic goals of the Company and those of the other Divisions.
Visualize Horizon as it will exist in the future and our needs in future environments, develop the strategy and execute the plan for proactively delivering solutions to meet those needs of the Company over the next several years, including from a financial, management capability, human resources, systems, information, and risk management perspective. Maintain and execute a strategic staffing plan that sets this future vision for the organization structure and staffing of the Corporate Services Division. Through the People Services group, ensure that every employee at Horizon works for a great leader.Manage a culture based on innovation, service delivery and accountability.  Drive a passionate, enthusiastic culture that thrives on anticipating problems, proactively identifying creative solutions, and efficiently and effectively delivering support and services that accelerate the growth and success of Horizon.Ensure that the annual business planning and budgeting processes are accomplished for the entire Company. Ensure that Horizon is proactive in identifying the various technical solutions, systems, and services that are optimal for the future growth and success of Horizon. Develop the plans for the securing and implementing those solutions, systems, and services in a manner consistent with Company’s long term strategic plans and financial goals. Ensure there exists the necessary oversight and assessment necessary to provide accountability for these investments, such as achieving the anticipated benefits and return on investment. Live the Values and the Basics both through leadership by example and through taking ownership of the performance and behavior of employees. Provide active feedback to employees when needed to emphasize the importance of achieving business results in the right way.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Minimum 10 years of senior leadership and general management experience.  Proven ability to provide energy, creativity, and direction in the course of building and growing an organization.Proven ability to develop a 360 degree view of an organization and its issues, to effectively communicate and collaborate across and to all levels of an organization.Subject matter expertise in financial, accounting, legal and regulatory, human resources and information technology matters.Experience managing large teams of people in a fast-paced, complex organization. Experience managing department managers and holding them accountable for delivering their team’s objectives. Must have demonstrated the ability to balance delivery of business results with doing business the right way to deliver both simultaneously.BS degree, with MBA or other equivalent graduate business degrees preferred.
