Executive Director, Medical Affairs

Job Description:CV Therapeutic seeks to hire the Executive Director. This position will serve as a member of the senior leadership team for Commercial Operations, and execute the development and implementation of corporate-wide strategic efforts for Medical Affairs, as well as manage the organizational planning and operational needs of the Medical Affairs organization.The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership to key functional areas within Medical Affairs (Medical Directors and members of the Professional Services team – Medical Information, Medical Science Liaisons). She/he will ensure that core job functions of the Medical Affairs Department are accomplished in a manner that meets or exceeds expectations of both internal and external customers. This role is a key point of contact for internal medical (Professional Services, Medical Science Liaisons, Vice President of Medical Affairs) and non-medical (Marketing, Legal, Regulatory, and Sales) CVT colleagues as well as a critical link between CVT and external cardiovascular stakeholders (healthcare providers, managed care, professional societies). The Executive Director will be responsible for communicating and exchanging clinical and scientific information to both internal and external customers. In addition, the director will be expected to support the educational needs of non-medical CV Therapeutics colleagues including the CVT Cardiovascular Account Specialists.

Job Experience:The qualified candidate will have an advanced medical degree (MD, or DO) and possess a thorough knowledge of cardiovascular disease including basic electrophysiology. An understanding of clinical cardiology and current practice trends in cardiology is essential. In addition, an understanding and or prior experience with managed care is desired. Strong clinical skills with a thorough understanding of the management of patients with cardiovascular disease is needed with direct cardiovascular patient care experience preferred. Understanding of the legal/regulatory requirements and guidelines regarding medical communication in the pharmaceutical industry.
