To sustain and enhance our leadership position in the pharmaceutical industry, we continue to recruit, develop and motivate individuals whose skills, values, and work ethic will grow and improve our business.Job Responsibilities* Conducts comprehensive industrial hygiene surveys of laboratory and office workplaces to evaluate employee exposures to chemical/biological/physical hazards and ergonomic stress.* Obtains and evaluates test studies and vendor information on hazardous products and processes with regard to health effects, hazard potential and compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate requirements.* Evaluates operations to determine appropriate personal protective equipment.* Conducts safety meetings and presentations regarding on-the-job health hazards, and instructs employees in safe work practices and proper use of personal protective equipment. Facilitates EHS committees.* Manages the respiratory protection program, provides training and fit tests.* Applies specialized EHS standards and methods to identify, evaluate and control safety and health hazards present in the work operations and environment. Performs monitoring/sampling and interprets and communicates results.* Evaluates operations to determine compliance with Wyeth and governmental EHS standards and regulations.* Develops written procedures and updates existing procedures. Provides technical assistance to site hazardous materials transportation program.* Assists with developing and delivering EHS training and communications to persons internal to Wyeth. * Represents EHS on projects being managed by other groups. Plans and implements EHS projects and initiatives.* Takes lead role for EHS program areas and projects in specialized areas, such as: industrial hygiene, general safety, laboratory safety, hazard communication, fire protection, loss control, accident investigations, and spill team. May assist with other programs such as biosafety, ergonomics, and environmental programs.* Responds to hazardous materials incidents such as spills or releases to provide industrial hygiene support such as air monitoring, recommending personal protective equipment, etc.* Provides maintenance of industrial hygiene equipment and inventory of field suppliesBasic Qualifications* Bachelors Degree, preferably with a biology, chemistry, environmental science, safety, industrial hygiene or related scientific or management discipline.* A minimum of 6 years relevant work experience for those with Bachelors Degree, or 4 years of relevant work experience with a Masters Degree.
