Entry Level Linehaul Service Manager
Overview:
This position is responsible for managing the operations: the load and unload, train Package Handlers and provide customers with superior customer service. This position will also manage the efficient sorting, delivery and handling of packages. Implement process guidelines from the Field Operations Policy and Procedures. Follow established guidelines and standards to produce the highest quality, safe and clean environment.
Position Information:
Facilitates the team within the area of responsibility. Implements and enforces established policy and strategy. Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards. Conducts Presort meetings to communicate values, strategies and objectives; assigns accountabilities; plans, monitors and appraises job results; develops a climate for offering information and opinions; provides educational opportunities. Manages Package Handlers, package loading and unloading, routing, proper documentation and procedure control for hazardous material shipments and management. Assesses and defines assigned Package Handler training needs and participate in on-the-job training and new hire training. Handles equipment malfunctions and/or immediately notifies major and potential problems to Maintenance Department. Accurately enters load and shipping information into the facility's computer system. Manages computer systems utilization, paperwork accuracy and procedural consistency. Processes loads and misload information. Responsible for confirming compliance with safety rules and programs; manages FedEx Ground safety programs, investigates problems and recommends corrective actions. Manages and provides leadership for the day-to-day operations as they relate to Package Handlers and support. Maintains condition of Dock work area. Participates in daily site staff meetings, corporate Inbound, Outbound, and Transportation planning meetings and conference calls. Attends meetings, development training and conference calls. Interviews, hires, trains, directs work assignments, rewards, disciplines employees, appraises employee performance, resolves complaints, assists in resolving RESPECT claims and forms of disciplinary actions. Evaluates Package Handler performance and development needs to challenge their potential. Uses Package Handler ASAP reports with follow-up plans for action items to drive Package Handler engagement. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School degree or its equivalent. Generally has 0 - 2 years experience preferably in a supervisory/management capacity. Knows fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization.
