Enterprise System Developer

EmFinders is a Dallas-area startup firm pioneering unique location-based applications.  The firm is leveraging a variety of wireless technologies and networking capabilities to deliver market-driven solutions.  Initial applications include combining location technologies and systems to provide for the emergency location and recovery of impaired individuals, such as wandering dementia victims.  The company was established in early 2007 and has completed demonstrations of its technology jointly with law enforcement and the Alzheimer’s Association.  In April 2008 the firm secured a strategic investment from a large multinational firm to support its development efforts and market launch.

 

The Enterprise System Developer will be responsible for the creation, development, testing, and refinement of product concepts, requirements definition, development execution, verification, and validation for new products, and the maintenance of existing products. This position will be responsible for server and web software architecture and development for the network-based controller of a new class of mobile devices in the Location Based Services industry.  Develop robust software architecture based on high-level requirements, and integrate solution with embedded mobile features similar to a “server-clientâ€� model.

 

Responsibilities:Design, develop, and test software for communication with complex wireless products.Generate overall software architecture for server and web applications platformDeliver complete network software platform around industry standard hardware platformsPrepare and manage exhaustive testing of final solutionAssist in the  development of  future product capabilities and plans based on market opportunitiesWork as a member of a larger cross function development teamCollaborate with other engineers throughout the product development team to effectively identify and resolve technical test issues and own driving these issues to closureWork closely with selected vendors to integrate and test software with final hardware platformRegularly lead and conduct technical reviews.  Champion the benefits of these reviews to the project team Provide regular status and progress towards milestones with program leaders, and senior engineering managementProvide support for fielded products . Provide  support as needed for product trials and product introductionWork closely with network partner to provide necessary field support for problem identification and resolution with initial releases of productDevelop and test workarounds, provide fixes for customer problems, and make recommendations for enhancements to resolve customer problemsProvide direction for future feature development and new product development

Qualifications:

· Familiarity with wireless/mobile platforms, especially with back office systems used in wireless communications systems; experience in GSM wireless networks is preferred.

· BS computer science/programming (or BSEE with appropriate experience)

· 2-5 years experience in product development, developing sophisticated, computer systems, and/or networking technologies/products,.databases and web design

· At least 2 years experience in developing and/or scaling enterprise quality network systems

· Solid communications skills

· At least 2 years experience with high level software languages

· Knowledge of security/encryption protocols such as SSL or other public-key solutions would be beneficial

· Knowledge of different hardware and OS platforms (Windows, Unix, etc…) common in the wireless industry would also be beneficial
