Position Description:

Qualifications:

Job Description• Manage the glass compositions, develop batch changes, and participate in raw material vendor selection.• Provide plant support for all glass related items including composition, forming characteristics, color and defect analysis.• Provide the link between furnace environmental compliance, glass/batch composition, and furnace operations.• Respond to informational requests, solving specific glass problems or operational problems, and assist in the training of plant personnel.• Maintain a reporting system for calculating glass formulas, cost savings, glass quality improvement, and color changes.• Maintain database for the company and competitor glass compositions, properties, and developing appropriate reporting.• Requires defect source analysis, strong communication skills to discuss issues with vendors, analytical laboratories, plant and corporate management.• Must be able to be on call for emergencies 24/7.Minimum Qualifications• A Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering or technical related discipline with minimum of one to three years of technical experience in the glass container manufacturing industry. • Must possess strong leadership skills to effectively develop and motivate others• Excellent problem solving skills are essential, as well as good verbal and written communication skills.• Strong computer skills are required with knowledge in quality and statistical analysis application, as well as spreadsheets.
