The Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School Board of Trustees is seeking a creative and talented leader to serve as Executive Director. The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for program leadership and the overall leadership and management of all operations of the school. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Trustees.

The Community
The Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School is located in Worcester, in Central Massachusetts approximately 45 miles west of Boston, with a population of 175,500 and is the second-largest city in New England. Worcester has evolved into an education, medical and research center.Â

Worcester is noted for its fine educational and cultural facilities. Among the institutions of higher education are Worcester State College, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Assumption College, Clark University, the College of the Holy Cross, the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Becker College, Quinsigamond Community College and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, which has opened a new campus downtown. The oldest of these is Holy Cross, which opened in 1843.

The Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School is a K-12 public school that offers over 1400 students a tuition-free, classical liberal arts program grounded in the great works of Western Civilization.

The mission of the Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School is to assist parents in their role as primary educators of their children by providing a classical liberal arts education grounded in the great works of Western Civilization and aimed at academic excellence, musical competence and character formation.

Housed in modernized building(s) in Worcester, the Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School provides students with an environment that emphasizes the strength and structure of a rigorous academic program. The School was founded by a group of community leaders in Worcester, including two college professors, an accountant, an attorney, two social workers and a local businessman.

The school was named after Abby Kelley Foster, a nineteenth century Worcester resident who was a leader in abolitionist and women's rights. At the heart of the Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School is a highly structured curriculum that sets high expectations and provides individualized monitoring to assist students in attaining ambitious goals for achievement. The School provides a strong academic foundation for students at the elementary level that will prepare them for demanding academic studies in middle school and high school.

Abby Kelley Foster has:
1,426 students in Grades K - 12.
A full-day Kindergarten program.
A caring, dedicated, and highly skilled corps of teachers and other faculty and support staff.
A longer school day (8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.).

High school AP courses and plans for the International Baccalaureate diploma

Certifiable in Massachusetts as Superintendent
Strong commitment to a liberal arts education
Understanding and experience in program development and evaluation
Fiscal management and budgeting acumen
Record of strong  commitment and validated accomplishment
Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills

The Contract and Compensation
A multi-year contract with a competitive salary and fringe benefits will be offered.
