Domestic Logistics Planner

Summary of Position: Develop, plan and interpret inbound and outbound scheduling needs to meet business and financial objectives. Analyze distribution requirements, store labor concerns, physical requirements, federal and local regulations and carrier constraints to develop pick, load and delivery schedules to ensure efficient flow of goods through each distribution center.  Provide consultation and or expert advice to all company and external management partners. Audit, process and negotiate freight claims and billing exceptions with minimal supervision. Respond to store inquiries which need immediate courses of action during time away from office. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

·          Develop multi distribution center pick and load schedules in conjunction with corporate strategies, store delivery and carrier requirements.

·          Develop, plan and interpret freight volumes on a daily basis to ensure timely flow of merchandise through the distribution centers and into the stores in the most cost effective manner. 

·          Provide expert advice with all internal company contacts and external partners regarding the movement of freight, equipment availability, capacity issues and freight payments

·          Provide guidance and recommendations to management regarding carrier performance and possible replacement of carriers.

·          Foster and maintain excellent customer service relationships with all internal and external partners.

·          Respond and rectify store, vendor and distribution inquires immediately without supervisor approval or intervention.

·          Perform various tasks within all transportations related software management systems in an accurate and timely manner.

·          Ensure all carriers including private fleet operations are knowledgeable of pick up and delivery expectations

§          Ensure all delivery information is updated to appropriate status within the TMS and WMS to ensure proper freight payment and data integrity by the end of each day.

§          Validate P.O. integrity and maintain information in keeping company inventory management teams informed on the status of freight.

§          Identify changes and recommend solutions to improve processes and information integrity.

§          Manage carrier performance by monitoring “On Time� service levels and make recommendations to improve levels as needed.

§          Trace the progress of inbound and outbound shipments and carriers to ensure expectations are met.

§          Ensure all daily/weekly/monthly reports are completed accurately and on time.

§          Monitor availability of LCL and LTL shipments and consolidate into truckload shipments when possible

§          Provide assistance to fellow planners as needed due to fluctuations in volume or staffing needs.

§          Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

·          High School Diploma with 3-5 years transportation related experience preferred

·          Ability to consistently make significant independent financial decisions on a daily basis with minimal supervision  

·          Must be self-motivated with ability to work independently

·          Demonstrate previous transportation planning, scheduling, negotiating and billing/auditing experience

·          Strong organization skills and attention to detail

·          Excellent Communication Skills, written and verbal

·          Ability to operate with various software programs such as but not limited to, TMS,WMS,AS400, Microsoft Office and other programs as needed

·          Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and responsibilities in a high energy work environment

·          Analytical and math skills required
