Division Controller
The Divisional Controller has the responsibility to manage the company’s general accounting activities to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of financial information. The individual will manage the daily operations of the General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Payroll Groups as well as assist in monthly financial closes and annual audits. The individual should be an experienced high-energy, well-organized Controller who has a proven track record of developing a strong team and working in companies with revenues in excess of $500 million. This role requires business professionalism, the ability to multi-task and work in a high growth environment. This position will interact closely with all levels of management and staff, as well as outside service providers and report to the Vice President of Finance.
Primary Duties:
· Manage monthly general ledger close cycle (including account reconciliations, revenue recognition, journal entries, accruals, and account analysis)
· Preparing monthly financial statements for US and international entities and combined financials
· Provide Executive Management with financial and operations data to facilitate understanding, interpreting and reporting the financial results
· Assist Executive Management with financial analysis including the preparation of the monthly forecast, annual budget, strategic plan, cash flow forecasts and budget to actual monitoring
· Work with the Vice President of Finance on all accounting activity including general accounting, revenue recognition, accounts receivable, accounts payable and fixed assets
· Lead contact with external auditors and manage the preparations for monthly financial package, monthly bank compliance and annual audit/ review
· Manage the preparation of various regulatory filings
· Ensuring conformity with GAAP and applicable federal and state tax regulations
· Daily cash management of the bank accounts
· Establishing and assisting with the implementation of procedures necessary to maintain and improve internal controls
· Evaluate, improve, and streamline new processes
· Supervise and develop the accounting staff through effective training, priority setting, and performance management
· Perform various special projects as requested by management;
Required Experience: 12 – 15 years of accounting/finance experience in a dynamic/changing organization. Past experience in a professional service organization is preferred.
Required Education: Bachelor Degree (Accounting/Finance), CPA required, MBA plus
Other Requirements/Skills:
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills, as well the ability to meet deadlines
· Detail-oriented personality, a demonstrable knowledge of financial reporting, accounting controls, processes and procedures
· Familiarity with multi-currency translation and professional services is a plus
· Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and meet varying deadlines, and possess excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability to multi-task
· Hands-on experience with financial statement preparation with a proven balance sheet acumen
· Extensive knowledge of GAAP required, knowledge of IFRS a plus
· A proven track record of efficient management of corporate assets
· Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
· CPA required, MBA plus
· Experience with Crystal Reports, Business Objects, Hyperion and major ERP system would be viewed as a plus
· Employment in an entrepreneurial environment would be helpful as well as experience preparing for an accounting audit
· Proactive approach towards improving processes and systems
· Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem solving skills
· Ability to identify and handle priority and/or sensitive issues with discretion and a commitment to confidentiality
· Advanced computer literacy with specific proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
· Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (approximately 20%)
