Position: Distribution Manager

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four year college or university; will consider considerable applicable distribution management experience in lieu of a degree

 EXPERIENCEFive to eight years experience managing high volume distribution and shipping functions.Retail distribution experience a plusProven ability to lead, communicate with, and motivate a diverse workforcePrevious experience utilizing and implementing Lean tools and problem solving strategies (5S, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis, Mistake Proofing, etc) preferredProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point); experience utilizing WMS software (JBA and or GOLD preferred)Previous experience analyzing and managing workflowStrong communication/presentation skills required to successfully present data, processes, procedures, etc to  diverse groups of employees and customer representatives

·  Must have a good understanding of freightliners and all aspects of truck, sea, and air shipments

 RESPONSIBILITIES

Distribution Manager is responsible ensuring their shift meets or exceeds company and customer expectations for the safety, quality, and timely shipment of customer product by performing the following tasks:Oversight and management of distribution area of operations across all shiftsResponsible for coordination with all internal and external customersManagement of shipping, pick and pack, internal product transfer, and customer service function across shift

·  Develop new procedures to improve inventory and distribution efficiencies

·  Monitor departmental  labor usage and efficiencies daily and report  to vice president

·  Coordinate with scheduling and customer service to ensure production goals are met and product is shipped in a timely manner-meeting or exceeding on time delivery requirements

·  Ensure inventory and distribution accuracy and on-time delivery

·  Responsible for ensuring safe operating conditions of all equipment

·  Responsible for ensuring proper training on process, quality, and safety procedures

·  Participate in the hiring, interviewing and transfer of employees into department

·  Responsible for ensuring clear communication of company and departmental expectations, performance, and policy.  Fosters an environment of two-way communication ensuring a participatory environment of continuous improvementCommunicates standards, goals, and there expectations to direct reports and progress of team toward meeting goals.Leads regular  meetings to communicate team progress, forecasted workload, safety reminders, and other pertinent information.Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves issues preventing, delaying or otherwise encumbering product flow.

·  Responsible for performance evaluation, corrective action, performance improvement plan, and appropriate recognition of team membersWorks with peers to assess areas of improvement and recommend solutions within department and facility. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.Participates in company continuous improvement program; motivates and mentors team members to participate in continuous improvement.  Must be able to work on variable shifts, weekends and overtime as required.
