Director, Clinical Pharmacology & Research

Job Description:CV Therapeutics seeks to hire the Director, Pharmacology and Research. The Director of early phase Clinical Research is responsible for the development and execution of clinical programs and studies for highly innovative, new molecular/chemical entities. You will be responsible for designing the full clinical development plan of the program and initiating first-in human-, subsequent Phase 1- and Phase 2-studies. You will assume a leadership role in managing all stages of the clinical study process including study design, protocol development, medical monitoring, review and analysis of efficacy and safety data. You will also act as a liaison between company and clinical investigators, and develop credible relationships with key opinion leaders, regulatory and governmental agencies. In addition, you will drive the publication of study data in scientific journals and at scientific meetings Your work will be performed in a complex matrix work environment and your success is tied to your ability to effectively provide strong leadership, build consensus and demonstrate exceptional communication skills adapted to varying audiences.

Job Experience:This position requires an MD primarily with clinical research expertise in the dyslipidemia or diabetes area coupled with excellent understanding of general internal medicine (Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine strongly preferred). A minimum of 3 years experience of phase I-II clinical research and development including first-in human studies in the pharmaceutical industry is required. The ability to interpret scientific preclinical, clinical and pharmacology-related data and implement relevant aspects in clinical studies is essential.Previous interactions with regulatory agencies as the clinical representative (e.g. IND) is a definite plus. Experience with matrix management and strategic planning is strongly preferred. Excellent communication and leadership skills are required.
