Desktop Engineer
Job Description:This role will be part of the desktop engineering team responsible for designing desktop solutions that support global and domestic clients. This consultant role includes providing day to day 3rd level support, engineering ticket queue management and support for various projects. Additional duties will include the creation of application installation packages, low level scripting and software distribution. The ideal candidate will possess a broad perspective of desktop technologies and how they interrelate to positively affect the productivity of our internal clients. The client technologies include Microsoft operating system and application software on desktops/laptops/Citrix servers/peripheral devices/PDA's, etc. The team also engineers tools and software configurations such as anti-virus, Microsoft Office Suite and support tools. This position requires strong hands on experience supporting the Windows operating systems to host a variety of domestic and global applications with optimum performance. Job Experience:Job Responsibilities . Follow and support standard operational procedures . Create and maintain systems documentation for testing and validation . Test application installation packages across various regional offices . Assist in coordination with Citrix Support Team to ensure application package standards are consistently maintained . Submit weekly status reports . Provide technical consultations as needed . Perform post-implementation 3rd level support, identifying root cause with strategic solutions to problems Job Qualifications . Experience in Desktop Engineering and/or Desktop Management . Position requires familiarity with large Windows desktop/laptop/Citrix/Active Directory environment . Experience supporting desktops/laptops in a large enterprise . Position some understanding of distributions with electronic software delivery systems . Working knowledge of the Windows registry . Ability to work independently without intensive oversight - must be a go-getter and take initiative on a regular basis finding ways to avoid problems proactively rather than just fixing them after the fact . Initiative and ability to research problems independently, finding root cause . Emphasis on sharing of knowledge broadly through good communications, peer training and written documentation . Strong inter-personal skills . Positive customer service and team attitude (helping others when required) . Focused on quality . Organized . Committed to continual improvement Technical Proficiencies . Microsoft desktop technologies . Background in the following areas:? Desktop operating systems in cludingW2K/XP/Vista? Desktop management using Group Policy? VBScript or other similar scripting technologies? Image builds experience using Ghost/VMWare or similar technologies? Active Directory? Wise Package Studio? WMI? Marimba? Advanced Networking concepts (TCP/IP, Routing, Firewalls, Network Security)
