POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Data Network Engineer
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
The Data Network Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, implementing, and supporting the network infrastructure throughout the Roundy’s enterprise. Technologies include but not limited to routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VoIP, wireless and Solarwinds Orion Monitoring. This position will leverage information technology to enable Roundy’s strategic business goals.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
· Following our project processes, design and implement robust networks and network components
· Following our support processes, support all network components
· Design, implement, use, and advocate the use of network support tools
· Clearly communicate and manage changes in the network
· Develop, design, test and maintain disaster recovery processes for the network infrastructure
· Cohesively collaborate with the Data Network, Network Services, and Information Technology Teams; business users; and vendors.
· Documenting network component including rack layouts, cabling, switch vlans, router frame relay design, and wireless networks.
SPAN OF AUTHORITY:
· Support and help lead in network initiatives for company-wide projects.
· Recommend new network related software and hardware products.
· Support and recommend future network standards.
· Help to translate business requirements into network infrastructure technology needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science (MIS) or related technical field. Certification desired: Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional (CCIP) or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE).
Experience: Three to four years of network configuration, installation and customer support.
Specialized Skills or Knowledge:
¨ Advanced experience working with Cisco technologies.
¨ Advanced working experience in an enterprise TCP/IP infrastructure.
¨ Ability to manage time requirements and communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately.
¨ Provide detailed project plans to effectively manage responsibilities.
SCHEDULED HOURS:
Work Schedule: Salaried Position, Monday – Friday, 40+ hours per week; part of the on-call rotation. Some travel required to in the Midwest.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a normal office environment.
