About RXi Pharmaceuticals: RXi Pharmaceuticals Corporation is a growing biopharmaceutical research and development company based in Worcester MA that focuses on developing RNAi-based therapeutics for the treatment of human disease.
Job Description: As the Director of Platform Technology at RXi Pharmaceuticals, you will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary project team working toward the common goal of developing RNAi compounds for therapeutic use. Your main responsibility will encompass the critical evaluation and optimization of RNAi compounds and delivery technologies for RNAi therapy in a variety of disease areas. You will identify, initiate and manage new technology collaborations to assess and prioritize delivery modalities, direct the development of in-house formulation work, and oversee in vivo evaluation in collaboration with our Pharmacology group. In this central role, you will contribute leadership and support to internal programs as well as external partnerships and facilitate the advancement of research stage compounds into development.
Job requirements: Ideal candidates have a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or related discipline and 10 years of post-degree research experience with >5 in a biotech/pharmaceutical industrial setting. Additional job requirements include: Comprehensive understanding of current oligonucleotide delivery technology and knowledge of the critical challenges for the intracellular delivery of synthetic oligonucleotides in target tissues in vivo Expertise in the oligonucleotide therapeutic space relating specifically to the design and use of modified synthetic oligonucleotides.
· Drug formulation experience and proven track record in experimentally evaluating gene or oligonucleotide delivery systems in animal models
· Proven track record in developing novel and practical technologies in the area of oligonucleotide therapeutics and/or molecular medicine in general
Strong managerial experience and demonstrated success overseeing multiple projectsCreative and critical thinking; effective oral and written communication Practical understanding of technology licensing and drug development
