DFCS Field Services Representative 1

Systems Division provides select Government, commercial, and international customers value-added, total worldwide systems solutions for their air and missile defense, air traffic control, communications, command and control, range, spacelift, surveillance, and force protection needs, as well as full logistics support services for facilities and equipment. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the communications systems on a site. Applies scientific engineering theories, methods and techniques in the investigation and solution of complex software, hardware and communications analysis problems. Provides primary liaison with customer to ensure maximum availability of systems for mission use. Works on problems exercising judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining solutions. Provides information or assistance which is used in the top management decision-making process. MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:1. Performs system equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, system backups and configuration control.2. Performs communications system analysis and ensures measurement equipment accuracy.3. Develops and analyzes alternative implementations of communications system configurations.4. Establishes procedures for logging system events to maintain a proper liaison with customer.5. Participates in and analyzes results of testing applied to applications and operating system software modifications.6. Assists in the training of new customer personnel.7. Supports the Field Operations Manager in project planning, scheduling and formal customer presentations.8. Provides work direction to field engineering personnel at a site as required.WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Works in a general office environment. Requires interfacing with all levels of employees and customers. May be required to work around electrical and mechanical equipment.FREEDOM TO ACT: Reports to the DFCS Field Services Manager and functions under general supervision. Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.Experience: Minimum of five years related experience required. Experience in operation and maintenance of communications systems is required. Background in satellite communications preferred.Special Requirements: Value Based Six Sigma certification a plus.
