Capital Ones explosive growth is mirrored in the continued expansion of its Strategy Group. Led by Stephen Mugford, who reports directly to Rich Fairbank, Chairman and CEO of Capital One, the team is comprised of extremely talented professionals, mostly from top tier consulting firms. The Strategy Group engages on a discrete number of ultra-high impact issues that drive the performance of the company forward. Projects focus primarily on formulating enduring and profitable growth and value enhancement strategies and then working within the business to ensure the impact happens. Senior strategy staff sit directly on the most senior LOB management teams and have dotted line reporting to LOB heads. The Strategy Group is designed to be a demand driven profit center in order to place additional emphasis on delivering high-impact work, and to foster attractive growth and career opportunities. It is considered a firm within a firm, with its own P&L, and has autonomy with regard to pricing, client and project selection, and organizational structure. The Group currently has approximately 40 members who are located across Boston, Richmond, and McLean.The Consultant will work closely with senior management and business unit leaders to set corporate direction, evaluate mergers and acquisitions and develop substantial new growth opportunities. In doing so, the Consultant will: Conduct research and analysis of business situations, issues and problems Conduct data query and numerical analysis Develop computer financial and statistical models Work with managers to gain business insights Serve as a liaison for Marketing and Analysis, Operations and Information Technology divisions Develop recommendations to senior managers to make key business decisions and/or transactionsJob Experience:Basic Qualifications:• Bachelors degree• 1 year of analysis experience Preferred Qualifications:Candidates for this role should possess the following: • BS/BA in a quantitative major from a leading university • Two plus years experience in a critical thinking environment such as consulting, investment banking, or corporate strategy • Strong quantitative and analytical skills • Strong problem solving and conceptual thinking capabilities • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects • Financial services is helpful, but not requiredCapital One will not file non-immigrant visa petitions for alien workersNo agencies please.
