Title: Computer Operator II * This position will be located in Portland, OR * Full time position. * Must be available all days and hours. SWING & GRAVEYARD SHIFT.BASIC PURPOSE AND FUNCTION: With guidance and training from the Operations Supervisor, provide an effective, reliable production environment through an understanding of the business needs, the established policies, procedures and service levels. Communicate issues and problems with the environment to shift lead and management. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Process jobs through the computer as directed by the run documentation and sequence called for in the computer run schedule. Select proper auxiliary equipment. Store Order transfers and special order releasing as scheduled. Rerun job steps to effect error recovery. Review errors made during operations and determine the cause or refer to supervisor for solution. Make adjustments to correct operating problems to meet specific conditions. Maintain proper backup of computer files. Print and distribute computer-generated reports to the appropriate departments and ensure that reports arrive at the proper destination and on a timely basis. May be responsible for the efficient function of computer operations and personnel on an assigned shift. SKILLS, REQUIREMENTS, AND WORKING CONDITIONS: High School diploma or equivalent. 1-2 years relevant work experience. Prior work experience and knowledge of the IBM Mainframe operating system and some JCL knowledge preferred. Knowledge and skill in the use of and troubleshooting of MS Windows environment required. MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) experience preferred. Incumbent must be capable of operating the computer and all peripheral equipment to include printers, copiers and PC’s. Moderate data entry skills required. Must be available to work weekends and willing to work flexible or unusual hours of rotating shifts as requested. Must be capable of working under minimum direct supervision. Must be capable of making decisions as position offers great latitude for independent judgment. Position responsibilities operate under deadlines and tight timetables and constraints. Must possess ability to work with and through others to achieve desired results. Most work is performed under general office conditions in a temperature-controlled environment. Incumbent must frequently lift up to 50 lbs. up and down stairs and bend, stoop, reach, push, pull and stand (50%) in the performance of job duties. High noise levels generated by computer equipment characterize work area. Incumbent will use calculators, keyboards, telephones and other office and computer peripheral equipment in the course of the workday.
